Sterling Moore? Is that the best he could do?

I can see somebody going to that trouble for Dez Bryant or DeMarco Murray. But Sterling Moore? No offense, but he's hardly Hall of Fame calibre.

The agent half a scent of humor. What half we in life without humor? let him half his day.

Seriously guys? I think this 'abuse of power' falls into the 'who cares' category. It sounds like Moore managed to keep it in an appropriate context. I'm sure he gave the guy some crap about scaring him, they all three had a laugh and he went home to post the amusing tweet. While the federal agent is back at work today doing a job the rest of us all benefit from but don't really appreciate because we're too busy anonymously arguing off-season football topics on the internet.

I am sure the FBI, ATF, or whichever agency it was, will not be too happy that one of their agents made the news because they misused their authority. I am sure, whomever it was, they will be getting at least a reprimand.

Maybe. But if they do it would be unfortunate. It's not as if the guy flashed his badge for manevolent purposes.

I'm not sure I'd be able to recognize Sterling Moore in public. Glad Sterling saw the humor in it though.

I had a friend in an Army Reserve unit that was a DEA agent. One time he told us he would register his weapon and preboard airline flights just to get the good overhead compartment space. We gave him a hard time for days.

You're a good person and so is Sterling
I wouldn't be nearly as forgiving
I'd be PO'ed if a law officer used his power to get me to be his plaything.

I don't think it would be unfortunate at all.

Doing that is a pretty hardcore no-no in law enforcement. Too many things could have gone horribly wrong with that and in essence, you're not supposed to use your authority for your benefit of any kind, even if it means taking a picture with a celebrity/athlete.

For me, it all depends on context. As a teenager, I had a local cop drop an empty beer bottle in a car I was riding in when we were hanging out at the park one night. Was not so cool or charitable about that one. Tricking me into an autograph? Well, I'd be ticked (I agree, it's not cool), but then I think I'd shrug it off and laugh about it once I knew I was in the clear. Unless of course I had done something that really get freaked out about, in which case I'd be a lot less cool about it.

At the end of the day, though, you weight the offense agains the harm it did and it's not a huge deal. Maybe you tell the guy you left him some tickets at will-call next season and instead give him a note in an envelope that says 'ha ha ha.' :)
