A few concerns about Lamb

First off let me say that if Dallas didn’t pick Lamb or Chaisson then they failed with their pick.

I had Lamb as my best WR in the 1st round but not necessarily the best fit for Dallas.

When I watch Lamb he is an incredible open field runner and he can win 50/50 throws.



Here is some of my concerns:

1. He’s not that great of an athlete..

4.51 40 and 34 inch vertical point to a lack of explosiveness. When you watch him he just kind of floats. He doesn’t have that quick suddenness in his route or a lot of top end speed to separate at the top of routes

2. He played with 3 Heisman candidates in a conference that plays no defense on the best team. We constantly got to watch him play in a ton of space.

3. Dak... Dak tends to like the separation receivers and isn’t going to throw guys open or give his guy chances to make a play on the ball.


Dallas got the pick right.. I’m just not as sold as this being a total slam dunk simply because I’m not 100% sold on what he does translating to the pro’s and our QB’s strengths specifically.

I think the testing numbers are overrated. He may not be the most “sudden” receiver. But there is constant tape of him just pulling away from defenders over and over again. He has the long strides and a crazy final gear.

So that’s a positive.

Plus his 40 number is very good, given his size. 4.5 for 6’2” 200 is very good.

Thought maybe sleeping on it would change my reaction....nope.....Hate it even more. We get lucky to have K'Lavon Chaisson OLB/DE LSU fall into our lap....and Jerry goes for the flair pick. Just insane. So much for McCarthy having any influence.

You forgot his catch radius and hands in general, which are elite traits. Not just the 50/50 ones.

Not that great in terms of testing compared to other athletes.

My comparison for him though is Deandre Hopkins and Hopkins ran a 4.56 40 with a 36 inch vert. Also not that impressive.

Great WR needs a quality QB or else they get shut down.
Like Coop does against good defenses.
I have the same concerns as we have bought all the accessories but the frame is weak and success is not guaranteed!!!
