Smith diagnosed the play really well, got upfield quickly and set his position. Credit Edwards for the quick hand extension on the tackle before staying with the inside exchange. I bet the tackle was going to allow the DE to crash hard inside either shoulder, skip a beat, and lead the sweep. It didn't hurt that the TE hesitated on his lead block on Smith, allowing Smith to eat up the block and swallow the running back for the tackle. Even if Smith had been kicked out with the block, it would've forced the RB to cut inside for safety cleanup or closer to more underneath help. More so the former though. Middle linebacker was shielded off pretty good.

He really looked like a nice diamond in the rough. I liked his attitude as well. His playing at home probably had some influence on that.
