A few glaring things about this defense

just watched a tone of tape

1 - Lawrence and Gregory can't buy a flag - watch any game tape - that ain't right
when I went to the tape I wasn't looking for it but ... it's glaring

2 - Irving basically can't be blocked for long, run / pass, Crawford earns his money

3 - our D1s are serviceable, Woods may be a find, when healthy Collins is our best DT (D1 or D3)

4 - Lee may become a target, would you rather throw at Jaylon or Leighton? ... . like Hitch last year
BTW, I'm very glad Hitch is gone, Lee's instinct make up for a lack of straight line speed, Hitch ... naw

5 - Jaylon should be playing in space - his is a truly elite athlete - let him run around and make plays

6 - IMO, LVE is a born MB, that's as rare as a born QB or TE, great pick

7 - the CBs have terrific play speed Jones, Awuzie, Brown, and Lewis force a lot of tight throws

8 - Heath should be playing FS full time, Woods is serviceable, really a NS

9 - they need a guy like Church, a serious box SS for the run D to be really dominant, sign Obi quick

10 - string together a few when an the momentum of the young bunch could be overwhelming

BTW, tackling has to improve at the second level

The tackling or lack there of drives me nuts...at least LVE can tackle as can lee.... I was very surprised last week how many times wide blocks set up perfect for sweeps against our defense...seemed to happen at least a half dozen times....has to be something coaching can correct

DL hasn’t looked good since we all found out he has a labrum tear. Hope he can play out the year.
If it needs surgery then what do we do with his contract? Pay him 20 million to franchise? I would still like to sign him long term.

Yeah, he's been a ghost the past few weeks. Hopefully Irving can pick up some of the slack. Gregory has been a disappointment. Not terrible but nothing special. Lawrence was the only consistent threat. Irving should be able to fill in as the threat while Lawrence recovers.

Every game the Cowboys play I'm stunned at the lack of flags they get. When I see other games on Sunday I wonder why the Cowboys never get similar calls. Instead we get snapping penalties.

I agree that the officiating seems to be anti-Cowboys lately. We get our share of favorable calls but I have seen several sins of omission over the last few games.

I am enjoying the defense this year. There used to be a time when I would only want to watch when Romo and the offense was on the field. Its the other way around now.

Considering you have watched so much tape on the defense. What’s your opinion Jeff Heath? I personally think he is the main cog holding this defense back badly.

Lol. I think he has our only int of the year. But he has taken some bad angles and missed a few tackles badly.

he's playing an all purpose S, he's our best SS and FS and NS, which speaks to a lack of talent at the position and Jeff as an athlete ... IMO, a Cliff Harris with speed

If Heath isn't intercepting a pass or causing a fumble he is completely useless on the field.

Count me among the concerned. But the emergence of jaylon and lve have more than made up for his departure. Sometimes it's good to be wrong.

I really like what Washington has done with their defense. The are incredibly strong up the middle of the DL. No one can run on them right now. Their entire defense looks pretty good. I still think the Eagles are a better team overall but Washington is showing sign of great improvement. I say this because I think Dallas needs to do what Washington has done. Get bigger and stronger in the middle of that DL.

But I agree, the Cowboys do not tackle well in the secondary - who can forget that hail Mary play against the Chiefs last year? a run stopping safety would be nice not not another Roy Williams.
