On the goalline failure, Barber scored (on third down?), I'm almost sure of it. Yet it seemed like we didn't even think about throwing the challenge flag.

At the end of the game, there is no reason for us not to kick the FG at the 22 with 20 seconds left or whatever we had. If we make it, we're down 7. We get the onsides, and throw one to the sidelines to get in decent position for a hail mary. I didn't agree with Simms when he said take a couple shots at the end zone. basically, we gave ourselves absolutely no chance to win by doing what we did at the end.

I thought on one of those carries Barber could've scored and did think a flag should've came out. But I think they got too cocky and figured they'd eventually get it in there. Should've threw that flag though.

As far as the field goal goes? Let's be serious. You can't kick a field goal with Nick Folk right now. You just can't. Cowboys attempted to score as fast as they could and didn't do it. Regardless there was 2 seconds left on the clock and we still had time on the clock to get the onside kick.

YOU WOULD ACTUALLY HAVE TO TRUST YOUR KICKER TO MAKE THE FG FOR THAT TO WORK!

IDK man. After they went up by 10 it was over.

Yeah, he was awfully close on one of the lunges toward the GL.

Why aren't they bringing in other kickers to try out during the week. The kicker is the one position you can change without screwing up the team's offense or defense. The guy has one job to do and if he can't do it, try to find someone else who can.

that's not the point. chargers were down there and it didn't come down to inches, they just punched it in and went all the way in. you don't want your fate in anybody else's hands. it should be in your hands. it was. we had 4 chances and blew every one of them.

What we should have done is spike the ball after a couple of those completions for first downs in bounds. When there's less than two minutes left and you need two scores, the clock is a bigger factor than the down marker. Instead, we just kept letting the clock tick. We had instances of 19, 22 and 16 seconds between plays after picking up first downs on that drive. We could have saved 16 to 18 seconds by spiking the ball after getting those first downs.

It was pretty much like we had given up and were just going through the motions.

I thought the angle before that one was a little better. It was at least VERY close. But the TV crew didn't even have time to laboriously show us every concievable angle. They showed two, and then we were ready to go again.

A San Diego cornerback (#25 ) was blocking the view of the sideline camera stationed at the goal line, so we never got a definitive look from that angle. Based on the overhead endzone camera, it didn't look like he made it.

I'm with you, BB. I don't think he made it, either.

But I do think he got within an inch or two, which is closer than the officials marked it.

I'd have done a QB sneak from that close. I wish we did that more often.

Pathetic. One of the supposed best short yardage backs in the league and can't get a yard?

Pathetic offensive line play, pathetic running, and pathetic offensive scheming.

These aren't HD photos by any stretch, but I think you can see what's going on.

This first one is just to locate Barber and the ball ------v

r05lip.jpg

This next one clearly shows how close the ball got AT LEAST, because you can see his elbow and part of the ball. Consider that the front half of the ball is blocked by Witten, and it's got to be very, very close to the line. And notice how far away from the line Barber's elbow is in this one ------v

oqg7ev.jpg

As Barber goes down toward the ground, his elbow is getting even closer to the line ------v

raxi5e.jpg

Now look where his elbow is. Where is the ball? Did it suddenly turn completely sideways in his arm? -----v

icpa35.jpg

In this next one, he ELBOW is almost touching the line. Again, where is the ball, behind his elbow? -----v

nmnn5v.jpg

And finally, as he reaches the ground, his elbow is mostly blocked by his teammate's (Free's?) leg, but it's difficult to figure out how the ball couldn't be touching the line. ----v

If we had challenged, maybe the refs couldn't have called it a touchdown based on those, given that the ball is blocked from view, but I'm pretty sure they at least would have spotted it right on the goal line.

Thanks Adam. There might have even been a better angle, if they had time to show any. It was so close, at the very least it deserved consideration. But we didn't even appear to think about challenging it.

Do you think SD is smart enough to tell the CB to stand there to purposely block a camera angle?

Hey, ya never know!
