Its easy to point to many different reasons why we are tanking this season, but within the reasons why we are losing there remain some unexplained phenomenon, for which I cannot figure out any rational explanation.
Issue #1. The Running Back Issue. I realize our running game has sucked this year. That is obvious. MBIII absolutely SUCKS. So why do we insist on giving him carries which are headed no where. He isn't a home run threat and the past two seasons he cant get anything done in short yardage. It is like we stubbornly do the same thing over and over and over again, and are expecting a different result. The ironic part is that while Barber skips and hops like a ballerina in the backfield, the line, as bad as they suck, block their ***** off for him, much better than they do for Felix.
When Felix is in, it is like the line wants for him to get his *** kicked. He is perpetually hit as soon as the ball is handed off most of the time, in the backfield. When he gets any kind of blocking at all, he usually does something good, so why isn't he being used 20 times a game?
Choice, where did you go? I don't understand why choice isn't being tried out to see what he can do. He seems to be the most complete back, but MBIII gets carries that Choice should be getting. I can't see why.
Issue #2. Why does this defense suck SO BAD? I don't understand why Brady James and Keith Brooking are getting a free pass on defense. We can't stop the run. We can't stop the pass. We can't get a pass rush. We can't cover anyone. We can't get turnovers. We can't get any pressure with our front seven. Why can't we get good safety play?
I still believe that we need to beef up our team up the middle on defense. We are too much of a finesse defense and aren't controlling the line of scrimmage. I refuse to believe this defense does not have the talent to get this done. Everyone kept telling me how Ratliff is a pro bowler at the nose. He STILL IS A GREAT PLAYER, but I really think we need a HOG at NT to collapse the pocket, and put Rat at DE. I also think we need larger INSIDE LINEBACKERS. Small speedy linebackers just don't hold up inside in a 3-4.
