A Few thoughts after replaying the Game

1. Conor Williams looks tiny compared to the other lineman. He not only gets pushed back into the Dak way to often, but he over extends when trying to pass block and the DT slaps his arms away and runs right around him. He needs a year to get bigger and stronger and he needs to work on his technique. He should be on the bench! #2 where was the pass rush? Cam had way to much time on most of his throws. I don’t see Taco as much of a pass rusher. #3 It was a mistake sitting most of the Offensive starters and Sean Lee for most of the preseason. Playing at game speed vs another team gets players ready to play real games much better than scrimmaging your own guys. Just ask Brady! The O line had very little cohesion while pass blocking and especially run blocking. Dak should have been working with his receivers at game speed vs another team. #4. The Offense played terrible vs a top 5 defense. The Defense played okay vs a below average Offense. When Olsen was in the game, Carolina was moving the ball pretty effectively vs our D. Carolina could have easily had 24 points. They played really conservative in the 2nd half knowing we couldn’t move the ball. #5 Just do your job!! How stupid it to let Cam fake a handoff and boot leg around the end. Very stupid and we did it at least 3 times. #6 Even less confident in our coaching after this game, including Marinelli. #7 Never go 5 receivers and take Zek out of the game. #8 Give Thompson more opportunities. He looks like a player. #9 Dak has little help, but he had happy feet and needs to improve.

You must have been watching a different game. Our D played excellent. Taco was much improved over last season, Dlaw didn't start to really flash his potential until year3. I think Richard was calling calling the play on D. Cam is not a dumb QB ... he has an internal clock, he knows when to get rid of ball to avoid sacks most of the time. The Panthers only got 293 yards. It's not like they racked up 500 yards but bogged down in the redone. Cam, the much better arm had similar passing stats as Dak. Who you to replace Williams with? Let the kid get bigger and stronger while playing and build cohesion. Both teams were conservative...Carolina's front 7 is just better than ours. You know what would really help this D, a run stopping DT that can also move the pocket, a safety who can actually plat safety, a big WR with speed and obviously we need to find a better TE.

Who to replace him with? La’el Collins obviously. Who to replace Lael with? The guy who was good enough to protect Tom Brady last year. Fleming.

You don’t “let the kid get bigger and stronger” while your QB is getting pressure in his face...you pull him and let him go eat and beef up in a place where he can’t hurt your team anymore.

#10 Zeke needs to show up more than 1 drive in a game. He did nothing that 1st half.

Yes, Williams is the problems with the offence. Nice comparison, comparing Brady behind an O-line and Dak. Brady doesn't hold ball for 7 seconds like Dak....and NEplays develop much quicker than ours...

I agree our #1 problem is coaching. Completely disagree regarding Williams. He needs to be on the bench until he gets bigger and stronger and improves his technique. Also, I stick by my opinion that the D played okay. Carolina’s Offense is below average and played really conservative when they had the lead. They could have easily scored 24 points against us. I expected more from the pass rush and it was ridiculously stupid the way we where falling for Cams fake up the middle while he was running around the end. Sean Lee should have played in the preseason. He was a step slow reacting on to many plays( he WILL play much better). I do think our D has the potential to get much better though. Do agree we need a big run stuffer in the middle.

Taco is a JAG. And he certainly will never be a good pass rusher. Once Gregory went out concussed that duo pass rush dream was over. Now it may be over for good. All of what Captain said was pretty much right on the money.

This team is in big big trouble. We wont always be playing the Carolina D and Zeke may have some good games. But other then that, this will be another down year. Unless Frederick can get back here and play pro bowl form again.

This team will NEVER go anywhere with this coaching staff. The quicker that happens, maybe we can salvage the careers of Zeke and DAk. If not, they will be wasted.

I think Collins at RT isn't working out. He needs to go back to Guard where he can man handle guys in the middle. Too much space for him out there.

We have his replacement....he's playing RT. Connor Williams is a tackle, not a guard. I think JJ promised Collins he would be a tackle since he got screwed in the draft. Once he hits FA, he will leave, get tackle money and Williams will move to RT. Only thing I can see changing that, is Tyron calling it quits because of his back and then Williams goes to LT.

While letting him bulk up and strengthen during the season sounds good, that won't work They can only do that with a strict regimen in the off season.

I thought the pass rush was fine. Credit to Cam, he moved around the pocket and avoided some sacks that most regular QBs would not have avoided. I thought Collins looked good playing the 3T at times as well.

And Taco was pretty good. He had a couple of pressures. I think when it comes to Charlton, some people just can't get over their disdain of the pick so now won't give him the credit when he deserves it.

In the end I think we are stuck with Williams at guard. Carolina is not the team to play to get a good sense of where he his is at. Smith took a couple holding penalties. Dak needs to get rid of the ball quicker.
