In a cover 2 scheme Carp would be effective because he would be doing similar responsibilities he will have in 4-2 Nickel. If you put a young Derrick Brooks inside in 3-4 he would get blasted a lot as well.

It was a poor draft pick for the scheme I believe.

He was a poor pick altogether. I just didn't see what the issue was with his play last night in particular.

If this is the best that can be said about a 1st round pick after 4 years on the same team, shouldn't he be cut??... seriously

Nobody's propping him, but no, you don't cut your nickle ILB just because you're disappointed he's not better. We're really thin at ILB, and I hope somebody somewhere cuts a player we can use there.
