A few things on Training Camp.

I think it will be a bit bittersweet for Jerry to not be returning here as the location/geography of Oxnard makes it a great place for camp, IMHO...The morning fog that persists here keeps it a cool temp for working out and I gotta believe it is great for the players who still were sweating up a storm...Not sure how San Antonio would be better in that regard.

Plus, they are pretty organized here in how they have the camp set up, everything went smoothly from what I was able to see and for the sheer amount of things that are going on, I think it's a credit to whomever organizes this here in Oxnard.

I liked how friendly the atmosphere is here at TC...Perhaps it's the simple reality that it's all fans of the Cowboys getting together but even sitting down to have a hotdog, people were engaging and asking about where they're from etc...It was a pretty warm atmosphere and a lot of families about...If nothing else, honestly, I preferred training camp to the actual games.

Seeing the players up close and responding to the fans is pretty kewl, I have to say...The morning walkout as they head to the practice field is unique and seeing the players like that is a perspective not often afforded, I imagine...You get to see different personalities and some are more focused than others (Adam Jones, Barber & Hurd) while others are anxious to engage (Folk, Ellis & Wade).

The sight of Erik Williams running a drill for the OL was kinda cool too.

Surprising to me how enthusiastic the onlookers were to Roy Williams when he came out too...Still a lot of fans of his, obviously.

Romo tried to hide behind Witten as they walked out but then ducked back to give a few autographs, actually was kinda funny.

Patrick Watkins is a tall dude but he sure does have some chicken legs :laugh2:

Of course, T.O. was the last one out to practice and with plenty of fan reaction.

Loved seeing the DL come out as a group (Although DWare did try to hide a little), we all hear about how tight they are but seeing them even come out to practice together gives you a visual of how tight they are...Canty, BTW, is a bid dude - towers over just about everyone.

Practices are well organized from what I could tell and they go from one drill to another very quickly and efficently...From that point of view, it can be hard to follow this player or that one very closely as the action is constantly changing and shifting to a different area of the fields.

Roy & Kenny Hamlin are nearly always talking together, even on the sidelines...And while Roy did well, he also gave up a few catches from the TE, right in front of him, in drills...He did cause a fumble from when I watched.

Tank is motivated and looks to be in good shape (Frankly, everyone looked to be in good shape)...And after being involved in a nice defense of a goal line play, proceeded to punt the ball some 20 yards...Pretty funny stuff

Overall, I highly recommend the experience for a lot of reasons...I'd say the only downside is that it not being full contact and only shells, it's hard to get a real feel for who can do what honestly.

And on a downside, I think it got to me a little that the demographics mostly of fans looked to be lower socioeconomic levels and I kept thinking what fiscal impact that has to invest interest in a sport like American Football...People were outfitted almost entirely of NFL-Cowboy gear.

Camarillo Outlets are pretty decent, families will like it...It's hot out here though, once you leave Oxnard...Malibu beaches aren't far either and nothing like SoCal beaches.
