A few thoughts on your team from the other side

Tough game for us last night. No excuses, your team was better.

A few overall thoughts

1) If Romo was playing like this in 2007 it may have been you, not the Giants that beat the Patriots in the Superbowl. I give the guy a ton of credit for making plays when they needed to be made

2) DeMarcus Ware. I always knew he was one of the best defensive players of this generation, but it really is time to start comparing him to the top 10 defensive players of all time, not just pass rushers. A complete player

3) Rob Ryan. It was like night and day your D from December. For whatever reason, and I hated ESPN's awful replays last night, we had no ability to consistantly move the ball. That reason being the Cowboys D

4) Your special teams. An overlooked part of the game was not allowing Brandon Banks a big return despite all the chances he had. Good coverage

5) I actually felt sorry for Romo for having to play with the bums he played with last night. Ogletree has always been a dog and I have no idea who your other WRs are. Your WR depth is just terrible at the moment

6) That o-line is going to get Romo killed next week. Suh/Vanden Bosh are going to eat them for lunch. Costa vs Suh? Come on man. I do hope for Romo's health you guys just go max protect, 3 step drops all day or its going to get very ugly

7) Your team is another draft consisting of quality o-lineman, or a free agency period of signing interior o-lineman from truly competing for a title. The question is will it be too late for Romo by then?

Overall the Cowboys were the better team last night and made the plays to win. See you in November

Thanks for coming back by after the loss. We appreciate stand up guys. Even if all of us aren't. :laugh2:

I think you missed Sean Lee. I credit Rob Ryan for improving this defense, but Sean Lee is the biggest difference between this year and last year. He just flies to the ball and is always making big tackles or int/fumble recoveries.

Good luck to you guys. Thanks for the level-headed thoughts.

Romo was playing like this in 2007, the OLine fell off and Crayton's stopping running his route is what caused the playoff loss,

Crayton also dropped what could have been a long td. But Romo had a great game, for some reason people see the interception at the end and think it was Romo's fault but that was him forcing it because they were running out of time and downs.

Costa vs Suh. Hmm. Don't like the sound of that one.

On the bright side Romo will be too busy chasing the bouncing ball around to notice Suh.

The Skins are also a really improving team. As Lombardi pointed out on the radio this morning, they really are a blue chip RB away from being really good. As he mentioned also, losing Anthony Armstrong, the deep threat, hurt them in this game as well.

A good hard fought, as usual, battle between these two rivals. I was at FedEx last year for the first game when the Cowboys lost a close one, and was there last night at the Death Star to see the payback. Loved it. :)

Agreed, but I don't think Rex is the answer at QB, they need one. He's a turnover waiting to happen.

On the flip side:

-Commanders Defensive front 7 is legit. Orakpo and Kerrigan are a crew that I do not look forward to facing twice a year. To think that Kerrigan is a rookie and will actually improve, quite frankly, sucks.

-Tim Hightower is for real. He didn't have a great game last night, but NO RB has had a good game against us so far this year. That dude runs HARD. Unfortunately for the Skins last night, he had nowhere to go with our up front penetration. Not to blow our own horn, but you won't face many run defenses like ours this season and Hightower is going to be key to your team's success.

-Your secondary needs help. Hall is WAAAAY overrated and and your only other playmaker in the defensive backfield is more effective in the box (Landry). The Cowboys didn't light it up on your secondary, but the only real player we had out there last night was Bryant and he was gimpy. Our other WRs last night were either certifiable idiots, signed on Tuesday, or practice squad fodder on any other team.

-Grossman is Grossman. He's not going to carry a team, but he's serviceable enough to lead a team with a good defense and a solid running game. I don't think his first two games this season were a mirage. Give him time and he can carve a defense. His stats so far this year will attest to that.

-Haslett may have cost your team the game. I understand the philosophy of bringing the house on 3rd and very long, but to leave Hall manned up on Bryant with no safety help was dumber than dumb. We were in 4 down territory at that point in the game anyway. You all out blitz John Kitna. Romo was injured but he wasn't dead. The guy has made a living out of making defenses pay for calls like that. Last night just cemented that perception/reality. As an example: The Jets doubled a gimpy Bryant in a similar situation with the game on the line and made, arguably the game winning play. The Commanders singled up on him and he, arguably, made the game winning play. Poor, poor decision.

-Finally, the Commanders are for real. As much as I've enjoyed your solid run at the NFC East cellar, it looks as though your team is headed in the right direction and I've stated as much before this season even started, on this board. Last night's game did nothing to sway my opinion on that matter. I'd love nothing more than for our win over your last night to jump start your fall to the cellar of the division. Make no mistake. But last night was Cowboys/Commanders. The game always seems to be competitive and weird things are more likely to happen than not (winning with 6 field goals? Are you kidding me?). As much as my screen name would indicate, I hate the Skins, but this year I'm rooting for your team to do damage against our other NFCE foes. Pound the living **** out of the "Dream Team" and the Ginas and we'll square off again in November. Good luck.
