Offer Jenkins to the Colts for Samson Satele, straight up. They could definitely use some help on the defensive side of the ball.

Yes, we would be giving away a pro-bowl CB for just an above-average Center. But, he's an above average Center that is only 27 years old. Jenkins will be gone next year anyways, and I'd be fine with our CB depth chart looking like this:

1) Brandon Carr
2) Morris Claiborne
3) Orlando Scandrick
4) Mario Butler
5) Lionel Smith

Something needs to be done to solidify the interior of this offensive line. They have AQ Shipley and Zane Taylor; AQ Shipley is a 26 year old 2nd year player who could start for them if needed. He's been with the Steelers and Eagles, who both have depth at the position and didn't get cut until the final wave of cuts.

How can you trade a player who is quite likely to start the season either on PUP or on the roster but unable to play?

I don't see why a player on PUP couldn't be traded.

If you are talking about it more in terms of the Colts willingness to trade for him, I would assume the Colts have a good understanding of who Jenkins is and his ability on the field.

When Jerraud Powers is the best CB you have on your team, you need secondary help.

I don't know if a player can be traded if they can not pass a physical.

Thats up to the team receiving the player. They could always waive that clause or ignore it if they deam the player is almost ready.

Why would any professional NFL front office, not knowing when, if ever, Jenkins will play again, offer anything other than a bag of magic beans?

If Dallas wanted Satele, they could of signed him as a free agent, and I was all for signing him in February but the organization doesn't see him as an answer but I wouldn't trade a starting calibre corner for a center you could of signed as a free agent...Corners have value and Jenkins is cheap right now, if Jenkins can get healthy and show he's healthy, and with other teams injury status at the position, then Dallas could get a better value draft pick for him by October it they decide to trade him, but certainly not trading him now, which you can't do since he's injured...

Let's see what cornerbacks get injured in the rest of the preseason AND when Jenkins can actually pass a physical.

This would be no sooner than week 1 of the season, and most likely later than that. Maybe by week 6 we make a trade for a center if it really goes downhill. I just kind of get the feeling we are going to stay with Costus no matter what, unless he gets seriously hurt as well.

we did him wrong

Yeah it was rather sudden. His knees were/are done now though. It's a shame, I always liked him. But it is a business, it is about winning, and it is about getting 'younger' at some point too.

Mike Jenkins is garbage now?

:laugh2:

My guess is Jenkins does not have enough range of motion to pass a physical. Most teams aren't going to make an investment in a player who has had the kind of surgery he has at this point in his rehab. Jenkins is going to have to prove he can take the pounding before anyone is going to trust that shoulder. If this surgery doesn't do the job I'm not certain he will play again.

Why would a team rebuilding with a new QB trade for an injured CB about to be a free agent? C'mon people, the Colts don't exist to fortify our roster for us when we're in need.
