Friday Feb 16 mock and reasons

Things will change with the combine and pro days, some rise, some fall, draft day will always have a few fall no one believed would and some drafted for higher than expected.

Dallas free agency:

Resign - DeMarcus Lawrence DE – 5 years $70 million, $35 million guarantee,
Resign – Anthony Hitchens LB – 5 years $25 million, $12 million guarantee
Resign - Keith Smith FB – 1 year $645,000
Resign - L.P. Ladouceur LS – 5 years $8 million, $4 million guarantee
Resign - Joe Looney OG – 1 year $1 million
Resign - Jonathan Cooper OG – 3 years $10 million, $2.5 million guarantee
Extend – Zach Martin RG – 5 years $65 million, $30 million guarante
Signing – Bradley McDougald SS – 5 years $22 million, $10 million guarantee
Signing – Sammy Watkins WR – 5 years, $25 million $6 million guarantee
Signing – Greg Robinson OT – 2 years $7 million $2 million guarantee

Cap hits will be significantly lower than the average on 1st year

Believe David Irving will be tendered for 2nd round and Colts sign him for #36

#19 Dallas trades down with Tampa Bay who traded down with Buffalo who opted for a QB at #7, Tampa trades #21 and #69 to jump up for Marcus Davenport DE

#21 Dallas trades down with Minnesota for #30 and # 62 and Vikings take Connor Williams OT

#30 Taven Bryan DT Florida – quick twitch type athletic who would allow Collins to go back to the 1 tech spot, good upside and should be able to rotate immediately in Marinelli rotation of DL. Gifted athletically and great pursuit speed, great motor and put pressure on the QB. Will need to rotate until he learns the speed of the game. Ability to play all spots on the DL which is of value to Marinelli.

#35 Dallas trades with Cleveland who after signing Kirk Cousins QB in free agency along with Allen Robinson WR draft Saquon Barkley RB with the 1st pick in the draft, then traded #4 to Arizona for #15, #47 and 1st in 2019, Arizona takes Josh Rosen QB, Cleveland at #15 takes Derwin James S and at #33 takes Mark Andrews TE. Dallas trades Dez Bryant WR, Orlando Scandrick CB, and Cole Beasley WR and 2nd in 2019.

#35 DJ Chark WR LSU – tall, good size, fast WR, good route runner, great hands he showed in the Senior Bowl that he can take the top off the defense and force the defense to cover him over the top. He will go over the middle and make the tough catch, moving up the draft board as one of the best WR in the draft. Under utilized at LSU with their offense.

#36 Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise St – Tall, long, instinctive, fast and big LB who was defensive player of the year in the conference. He should back up Sean Lee and take Lee’s spot in a year or less. Able to read and react much like Lee and knows where the play is going, plays sideline to sideline and is a leader for the defense.

#50 Isaiah Oliver CB Colorado – has outstanding size, speed and ultra outstanding length but has a lot to learn in the NFL, could become a shutdown corner with a year or two under his belt, smart kid, leader, has a great feel for the game and knows how to take the ball away. Some have him rated 1st round pick but he isn’t ready to start in year one although would be excellent in nickel and dime packages.

#62 Dorance Armstrong OLB/DE Kansas – great character and great length and motor, leader on defense could play SAM with rush abilities, has ability to cover and get up the field on blitzes, should get better each year, hard worker and expects those around him to always give their best.

#69 Equanimeous St. Brown – great height, hands, speed will give another good option to Dak not only downfield but red zone and tight outside throws. He has the rare combination of height and speed to potentially be another Julio Jones and could displace Williams as the #2 guy depending on Chark and Watkins. Those 3 will give Dak potentially the best combo WRs Dallas has ever had.

#81 Dalton Schultz TE Stanford – team leader, captain, complete TE with exceptional run blocking, knows how to get open for the QB, good seam route runner, soft hands, physical in run blocking and in taking on defenders in pass routes, good blocking downfield, great height, good red zone target. Dallas will run with 4 TEs, Witten, Gathers, Jarwin and Schultz.

#118 Godwin Igwebuike FS Northwestern – extremely smart, great athletic ability, team captain, physical tackler, can play FS or SS, good cover man, great motivator and plays excellent special teams, if you doubt him you will pay with his play

#136 Alex Cappa OT Humboldt – not often does Dallas take linemen not from big schools but Cappa is different, he has showed he can play with this year’s best DL guys and win the battles. Athletic type OT with good arm length and great feet, stronger than most would have believed, will develop into a great swing OT and possible starter

#138 Nathan Shepherd DT Fort Hays State – Great size, weight, speed and has the athletic ability to be a force in the league. Showed in Bowl game that he can play with the big boys. He can play the 1tech, 3 tech or sub in at DE if necessary. Moldable and hard worker, studies the game to get better. Should be a viable option to rotate with Collins at the 1 tech.

#176 Larry Allen OG Harvard – most boards do not have him in the top 280 players but Allen is as strong or stronger than any OG in the draft, show explosion and elite athleticism. He dominated a lesser league but he wanted a good education. He could end up being the best OG in the draft if he stays with football. If he would have gone to a large school probably talking a 1st or 2nd round pick. He is a prototype of his Dad and just maybe even better.

#177 Brett Toth OT Army – impress OT with all the right NFL needs, will have 2 year Army commit but could be a nice wait and someone who could start immediately at RT for 10 years.

#195 Akrum Wadley RB Iowa – has big play ability as a returner and 3rd down back, does have pass catching ability and makes a lot out of nothing, Darren Spoles type talent, ability to run away from safeties and linebackers, will make tacklers miss with extreme jump cuts and stop/start quickness

#229 Adonis Alexander CB Virginia Tech – this is a pick that could be a bust or the smartest move ever made by Dallas. A kid with the ability to be a Deion Sanders type if he can get his head on straight. Has the size, ability, length to be one of the best ever yet the immaturity to be nothing at all. Worth a late round shot.

LOL...had to read the cleveland at #35 trade thing multiple times to make sure I was not reading it wrong and after assuring myself I was not reading it wrong...I just shook my head.

However I give you props for the effort, time and originality.

Dez, Beasley, and Scandrick have negative value with their contracts (maybe not so much Beasley by himself). 0% chance we could trade them

Quite impressive and very entertaining. I like Larry Allen Jr.

Collins is a 3-Tech, he needs to be moved back to a 3, not a 1.....

You aren't getting Martin signed for what you suggested. Zeitler signed last year and got $32MM guaranteed. So Martin will likely get more than that.

And 5 years, $25MM with $12MM guaranteed for Hitchens is an overpay.

I see a lot of trading but I lost track of when we get our first pick......just when I think I have it figured out the next sentence has us trading it away again........I'm about two bong hits away from figuring this one out.

I like you gave it your best and went outside the box. Good job
