A general consensus on S J.J. Wilcox....

It's just annoying how much of a wreck we are at safety, and the players we choose to fix it. I don't know, maybe Matt Johnson will suprise us and actually play this year.

I believe this is what the FO is hoping for, along with Allen being a stop gap solution if their plan doesn't pan out.

Will Allen is a solid veteran, but barring the miraculous, he's the only compentent safety on the team. McCray is a special teams player only, Matt Johnson is made of glass, Church is coming off an injury that has ended careers and Wilcox has played safety from one more year than I have.

Get real.

Yeah UDFA QB or WR will never amount to anything.

I see the potential but he's just way too raw for me. He's probably strictly a special teams player this year, and maybe next year too. A huge part of playing NFL level safety is instincts. You don't develop those instincts playing 1 year of safety at the D2 level. Not a fan of the pick purely because we needed someone to step in and play right away and I don't think Wilcox is that guy. A little scary thinking that Barry Church and either Matt Johnson or Will Allen are going to be our starting safeties to be honest.

3(80) J.J. Wilcox S Georgia Southern

-

Nolan Nawrocki, Pro Football Weekly: 5th rated FS, Not included in top 150 overall, 4th-5th round projection.

Inexperienced, inconsistent defender who bounced from WR to RB to S and it shows in his uneven play. Flashes enough athletic talent to warrant consideration as a developmental project, but requires patience and might never get it. Still very much a developmental prospect.

Nawrocki if I remember correctly is the guy who absolutely trashed Geno Smith before the draft? Just curious if he is the guy I am thinking of. I know there has been some speculation that he was labelled as racist by some prospects in the past for how hard he is on black qbs in particular as Mike Greenberg(mike and Mike) put it.

Yup same guy. More or less went after Geno Smith the person, not the football player.

Hate seeing so much trash on these guys before they have even played.

Congratulations, and kick some ***.

Yeah UDFA QB or WR will never amount to anything.

oh wow, you're right. Romo was an UDFA! Austin was an UDFA! I totally forgot about that!

Come on. They're called the exception to the rule. 90 percent of 6th round picks become special teamers, backups, out of the league, or perhaps, marginal starters.

Nobody drafted in the 6th round is "going to be a beast." That's just silly.

It makes me wonder if he watched the games in chronological order.

I am really pulling for Wilcox. Love his attitude. I expect him to produce on ST this year and see him on the field in some dime packages.

Relax. We're moving Kyle Wilber to DE. And there's always Alex Albright.

Defensive line is a position of strength on this team.

I know Wilbur played DE in college but I think hes going to be hard pressed due to his size in the NFL. Teams should be able to run to his side if they audible and we're thinking just utilizing him for pass rush downs.

Regardless of whether Monte Kiffin likes leaner, quicker players in those situations. All in all, I think Wilber's out of place in this scheme but Im not the coaching staff and definitely would love to be wrong.

Albright is just an all round very versatile guy and I really do like his game. I just didn't see any pass rush from him and I dont feel tha'ts his fortay to begin with.

If Ware or Spencer are hurt for any games I worry greatly about our ability to get to the QB.

Im pretty sure youre being sarcastic but if not I do respect your views on our personnel so if you're not being sarcastic pleasebe kind enough to enlighten me.

Kyle Wilber: 6-4, 250
DeMarcus Ware: 6-4, 250

Seattle runs a defense similar to Kiffin's and their Weak-Side DEs are:

Chris Clemons 6'3 254
Bruce Irvin 6'3 248

He's definately being sarcastic. I'm sure he pretty much hated the entire offseason to this point. I'm not saying I can blame him for that I'm just saying that it's highly likely that he didn't like anything that happened.

Elvis Dumervil,Dwight Freeney aren't much bigger(in fact significantly shorter and with 10 lbs of them size wise).Robert Mathis is smaller than Wilber and D.Ware as well. Apparently size only hampers our players.

If Wilber doesn't pan out it will be because he isn't very good not that he can't fit the scheme.

The problem with Wilber is he played 4 full years at Purdue and had a total of 13 sacks over that time. He never displayed any substantial pass rush skills.

It pains me to see the Cowboys moving him to DE while the Giants add Damontre Moore.
