Jason Williams...6'1" +...241...4.42 forty on turf....impact player and tackler...hard worker...great player at a small school...read the article posted by Adam...the single guy who was brought in by the most teams in the entire NFL for visits. Groom for ILB, and the skills to immediately take over Burnett's spot, only a better blitzer.

Robert Brewster...6'4"...322...first team all MAC two years straight at RT...will probably move in to OG, but a terrific pass blocker who needs to get stronger.

Stephen McGee...6'3"...220....4.6 forty...tough guy, smart QB...was the 4th best QB despite missing half his senior season with an injury...very mobile, could be our perfect Wild Cat QB and groomed to be the backup after Kitna.

Victor Butler...6'2"+....247...4.77 forty....a sack artist for Oregon ST. and helped deliver USC's lone defeat...great off the corner getting after the QB...athletic and easily can play on his feet in the 3-4 or 4-3...first team all-pac 10...21.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks this season alone in a very good year for the PAC 10, forcing 4 fumbles and recovering 2. This guy will be pushing Spencer on passing downs...he's the real deal, but ranked lower than some DE's you've heard of because he's a tweener, which is exactly what 3-4 OLB's are.

Brandon Williams...6'3"...260...5.0 forty...true junior for developing...ranked lower than Butler, yet I read guys yippeeeing because they finally have a guy they heard of.

We had such a great draft last year, strong in the later rounds, yet this year everyone is trying to judge the draft based on familiarity of names or a draft publication...Dallas is getting guys who will do more than play ST....Our defense was our strength down the stretch last season, and now we're making it even better.

I'm happy with this draft so far and excited to see these guys compete.

what do open mind mean? you mean we didnt need every steak player for every position and our opponents only drafted football gods while we watched from our war room in mere admiration.

Good post! Draft snobs can never appreciate that the value is in the player, not the pick number.

I agree.

The one area going into the draft that I identified as a need was LB. We lost Burnett and Thomas and Ellis is getting long in the tooth.

I think we addressed it very well getting athletic pass rushers which will make our top ranked pass rush even fiercer. So while the Eagles are taking small rbs and wrs, we will be crushing them with blitzes.... :)

I'm happy we finally took a QB and one that seems to have real upside. The guy can RUN...perfect future backup to Romo. If only we had a guy like this on the team last year....

Same with the G....we could have used him last year when we had no one to turn to...

I don't view S as a big need for us, I like Sensabaugh, Hamlin and Watkins. Brown can also be a servicable backup. I just don't see the big need there. Same with WR...Crayton is a solid starter and Austin has upside and talent. Hurd and the other injury prone guy are depth..

I am concerned with NT and CB. I think we need a player at both of those spots but I would imagine that will occur soon.

I like this draft also. Real meat and potatoes draft. And it should strengthen STs which I think is huge.

I'm so-so with this draft.

Are we bringing in ST players or guys who can possibly start in a year or two?

This draft is alright.
We still need to adress some glaring holes though.
Solid picks, good depth.
S, WR, CB, and LT need to be adressed.
Our OT pick is more of a RT or a G.

I just found another bio on Jason Williams...despite being 6'1" and 241, he ran the 4.44 forty on a hardwood basketball floor since he wasn't invited to the combine...when some scouts said it wasn't accurate, he showed up at the NOrthwestern pro-day and ran 4.42 on turf....that's when they all started inviting him for visits...apparently he was a total terror in other teams backfields....now most of that came from the article posted by Adam.

here's the new bit....he did this after being moved to weak side lb from safety as a sophomore....safety!

This guy will probably be on the field in all the nickel packages as a LB who can really run, cover, tackle, and get after the QB on blitzes. You can be sure Wade has a plan for how to use him.

I'll go on record and say that I completely hated last years draft (other than the Scandrick in the 5th pick *highway robbery*). With that being said, Felix looks like a true game breaker, Bennett could end up being a BIG part of the O this year, and Choice was SO much more valuable than I think anyone around here could have imagined.

I didn't even bother logging on to the Zone yesterday because I knew the place was gonna be a train wreck when we traded out of the 2nd. I'm not thrilled about this draft so far, but last year was a lesson to me to just trust the guys that do this for a living. They'll be right a hell of a of a lot more often than I will. They're gonna miss, of course (all teams do), but I'm giving em a pass after last year's draft. The absence of a 1st rounder took the "sexy" right out of this draft to begin with. These are all meat and potatoes picks. Hopefully they add some quality depth on a team that didn't have many "starter" positions open to begin with.

At safety, we have Hamlin, Sensabaugh, Watkins, and Ball at the very least.

At CB, we have Newman, Jenkins, Scandric, and a couple of other guys who were with us last year.

At LT we have backups in McQ and Free already.

I think we're set at WR and committed to giving all the young guys a chance to make it or rebuild the position next year.

We will likely address some of these positions before the draft is over and with UDFA and even guys who get released, but I don't think we have any pressing needs that we're going to fill at this point for the coming season.

Also, there are a couple of good DBs left unsigned at this point. What can't be had in the draft can still be signed off the street.

Nice post Wayne. I'm quickly warming up to the work we've done in day two this year. Victor Butler is a beast.

I am loving this draft. Tough, competitive, team leaders who work hard....

Love it. We needed serious lb help and I think we got it.

The common elements so far in how the picks have been profiled...... High motor, good character, great work ethic, great teammates with leadership quality, productive but with a lot of upside and all considred 'football guys' who love the game.

I'm not going to judge this draft until at least the start of training camp

All in all, this could very well turn out to be a very good draft IMO

Open mind for sure. Hey were fans so we can put on those rose colored glasses!
Right now, I see our draft has having a lot of bad luck (with guys we wanted always getting taken just before we pick). But I think overall Jerry and crew are doing the best with how things are falling.

Would I have done it differently? For sure. But I'm no expert.
