A high school football player in Texas attacked the referee after being ejected for a late hit, then

When I was young and playing baseball, I got called out sliding into home at the end of the championship game which cost us the game.

My dad who was one my team's coaches argued (he called it debating) with the umpire in the parking lot for a while after the game, long after everyone else, including myself, was over it.

Guess who was my football coach 2-3 months later? That's right .. that umpire :D
LOL, some good people on here.

One summer, when I was 13, I was playing basketball in my friend's driveway, when a woman stopped her car and asked for directions. I pointed her 5 miles in the wrong direction, and giggled my butt off once she'd gone....She turned out to be my Algebra teacher about a month later. She never said anything about it, so maybe she didn't recognize me, but she did seem to look at me funny the first few days of class.

You do know what I'm gonna ask? I am a man after all...

I wonder if that's the incident to which I was referring earlier. It did look like the same guy, build wise, IIRC.

Could be. I don't know the specific details of that prior incident. There was a case a few years ago where two players from a San Antonio hit a ref during a game.

According to the article, this kid was suspended last year for a similar incident. Maybe you can be forgiving for a one time, lost his mind incident, but if this is indeed a repeat offense then he needs to be in jail. It was an act of cowardice.

I think he should certainly lose the privilege of playing organized sports.

I was in shock when I saw this. I showed it to a buddy of mine and he said this guy just screwed himself for playing any where in college. No college would want the negative publicity.

The school district has forced the team to forfeit their spot in the playoffs.

I hate that for the other kids.
That's pretty messed up. Unless he had a history of violence, and they just ignored it.

I once saw a player deck a ref with a right hook in a game. Player was banned for life.

I officiated in a game were the referee made a very difficult call in the final minute - and got it right - in an important game. Officials changing room door was kicked in by a group of irate people who stormed into the locker room. Luckily security read the situation well and had taken the referee elsewhere in the complex immediately after the game. Funny thing about it was all the anger was directed at the referee. The rest of the crew were left alone.

Hopefully this destroys his chance with recruiters and doesn't get a scholarship.
