Eduncan gets old, but he was accurate with Wade's quote. He said he didn't have a great feeling that we have four corners or five corners that can really play.

He said a 4th or 5th.

There's no point in arguing, but... It's on the dc.com website.

I think that's what he meant though. He wasn't implying that the four or five best couldn't play. Basically he's talking about the guys behind Glenn.

Here's the recap from the PC quote:

I hope its good, when you can’t tell which guy is better, maybe none of them are. I like some things they’re doing, but not a great feeling about number 4 and 5.

This is the quote...""When you can't tell which one is good enough, maybe none of them are," Phillips said. "I hope that somebody steps up. I like what some of the things they're doing, certainly. But I don't have a good feeling that we've got four corners or five corners that can really play."

Pre-Season is almost over, and we still don't have this fixed.

Actual quote:

"I don't have a great feeling that we've got, you know, four corners or five corners that can really play."

Ok I'll play.....what is your plan to fix it? And don't say trade for Samuels because that's not going to happen.

Here is the quote from DC.COM:

Backup Corners: Anyone not named Terence Newman, Anthony Henry or Aaron Glenn still has some work to do. Jacques Reeves and Nate Jones have been solid special teams players in past but are getting pushed by Quincy Butler, Joey Thomas and rookie Alan Ball.

"When you can't tell which one is good enough, maybe none of them are," Phillips said. "I hope that somebody steps up. I like what some of the things they're doing, certainly. But I don't have a good feeling that we've got four corners or five corners that can really play."

In this quote, that comment was made in reference to backup CBs.

The four or five corners which WP made reference to are Reeves, Jones, Butler, Thomas and Ball.

It is a clear references to five corners fighting for roster spots to backup starting CBs.

My question is how do you know Wade was being serious and not just stirring the put?

Quotes without context is no different than making one up, IMO...I was going strictly by the PC recap, which phrased it differently...so who's to say which quote is word for word and which is paraphrased?

Who wants to listen to the actual PC? Like it makes a difference, we all know what the quote was about, and we all know how it was being presented in this thread. ;)

Last I checked, NO NFL team has depth at corner, not even Philly.

Thanks for the info!

So this begs the question...what does Wade mean by "really play?" Pretty easy to assume this means at an elite level. True. We have one who "really plays" at an elite level. That doesn't mean the other CBs on this team suck as you want it to mean. It means that they are not on the same level as the one guy who is elite.

I don't see anything wrong with the statement by Wade. I see a huge problem with how you have decided to translate it to fit your agenda. It doesn't fit, but thanks for trying.

Without Newman...anyone think we can improve on our 24th ranking in pass defense?

I doubt that Ball or Thomas can help us.
