A little break from the Garrett talk

Sitting here watching the halftime of the Notre Dame game and they are talking NFL with Peter King. They are saying the Steelers game is the biggest game of the year so far. And it hits me.

WHO WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT THAT THE DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON WOULD BE (PRACTICALLY) OVER AFTER 8 GAMES?

Is there anyone on this board that could say they ever envisioned such a thing?

What a tragedy this season is. When is the last time a season was over for us this early in the year? Do we have to go back to 1989?

I predicted the Cowboys v. Steelers in the Super Bowl. Man, that would have been sweet in the new stadium.

As I've said before this is the most disappointing season in Cowboys' history. I've watched since 1964. There have been many disappointments but to go from SB contender to the worst team in football is a disgrace.

And I thought 2008 was bad...

Wade is directly responsible for the two biggest flops in franchise history.

If that doesn't say something about his abilities as a head coach, I don't know what else does. Yeah he went 13-3 and won a pair of division titles, but with the amount of talent on this team, that is no where near enough.

And I know it has become chic now to question our talent level, but I'm not doing it. This team was loaded this year, although weaknesses at safety and line took their toll, there was plenty of talent on this team to coach.

Wade, who is known for his defenses, should have seen how bad the safetys were and did his job to get the right players to make HIS D work. He didn't and now he's history. It's been long over due. He should have been canned after every season he's been here, imo. The Cowboys wasted a lot of time on him, something they will never get back. It sucks.

Many of us were duped. I just knew we'd be Super Bowl bound this season. I turned my back on our pitiful showing in preseason. Something just wasn't right, and it started in training camp.

I chose to keep my rose-colored glasses snug to my face. I refused to believe that anything was wrong, or could go wrong because of this abundance of talent that the Cowboys supposedly had going for them. Believe me, eating cold, raw, crow.... blows!

My beloved Cowboys are not Super Bowl bound this season. Who knows for how long? All I can hope for is that Garrett can whip this team into shape. Maybe he can give this fan base something to get excited about come the next football season, whenever that may be. :( I fear we may not have any football come next season if DeMaurice Smith has his way.

Anyway, I'm not counting out my Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. Yeah I know, we're playing in NY against the hated Giants (supposedly the best team in the NFC). And yes, I know Kitna is our QB. And Leonard Davis will probably start. Jenkins too. But maybe, just maybe Garrett holds the key that us Cowboys fans have longed for since the Jimmy days. Garrett has 8 weeks to show that he has a little bit of Jimmy inside.

Let's hope HC Garrett proves all the naysayers wrong this coming Sunday at 4:15 EST. GO COWBOYS!!!

I predicted either us or the Packers would play Baltimore in the Super Bowl. Looks like a pretty stupid pick now.

This is the most embarrassing season to be a Cowboys fan that I can remember. I'm not saying it's the worst team we've had, it's just the biggest gap between expectations and results that I can remember.

So far I feel like, as a Lifelong fan, that I have been kicked in the sack... repeatedly. Thanks Wade and Co. !

In other words, the most under-achieving, gutless, team full of quitters we've ever had??? Did I miss anything? Oh yea, full of guys with low football I.Q.s (see penalties, turnovers, blown coverages, etc.)

Fletch ol' buddy. Can I call ya Fletch? This collapse started several years ago. It just finally came to a head, IMO.

I predicted 14-2. Now, the Cowboys are more likely to finish 2-14.

I don't predict the Cowboys teams records

learn my lesson in the Danny White years

but Wade should have been let go last year

that would have given JG a fair chance at winning the job

plus Jerry did not help by (throwing) trading away three picks for a lousy WR

How is 2008 one of the biggest flops in franchise history? Or am I not understanding what you're saying?
