A Look at how much bigger the defense has grown and how it's getting bigger

I recently found out that a big part of the reason they cancelled the series after one season is that Darren McGaven asked out of his contract. He was unhappy with the series, because he felt it took too light a turn. He wanted a more serious approach, like in the Night Stalker tv movie. I think that's also a big part of the reason he refused to be on the X Files as Kolchak.

So since the ratings were low and DM wanted out of his contract, they quit with two episodes unfilmed on their original season run.

Does anyone read my posts? Am I on some kind of forum wide ignore? This is the second time in this thread alone that someone has completely missed a post of mine. No wonder I'm not as loved here as I am at the Ranch, noobdy knows I'm posting here. :banghead:

Must be something wrong with my computer: can't seem to make out this jumble of pixels. Can someone please repeat? :D

HA! It's some sort of nefarious conspiracy to censor my posts. I'm being scrambled.

Don't really have a personal fued with Nors. Can't say either one of us gives a damn about the other, either way. In fact, if push came to shove, I'd probably have to admit that I kind of enjoy having him around. I just get a kick out of ribbing him about his misses, given that he's quick to remind everyone about his hits.
Whatever you say, I just noticed that you seem to be one of the ones who are always quick to oppose him. Perhaps you might like to examine your own reactions a bit more closely…just a thought.

As for Singleton, Nors has predicted he would be gone. His losing his starting spot (eventually) was never really at issue, since virtually everyone can see that Burnett's star is rising. So for you to suggest that he's somehow (even partially) correct on this one is off base. More importantly, it unnecessarily feeds a monster that does well enough ensuring it gets fed on its own.
If you recall the first post that I made in this thread said that Nors was getting ahead of himself saying Singleton is out of the starting lineup; Singleton is not out of the starting lineup YET. From that point on my post really had nothing to do with him; it was an expression of my personal opinion.

Until we signed Fujita I was on the side saying he was wrong on Singleton. But now the circumstances have changed and I full expect to see Singleton out of the starting lineup; not necessarily off the team. I thought I was quite clear that I did not expect to see him cut right away and probably not at all.

On a side note: Nors has become a bit of a cause celebre for a number of posters who think it's noble to jump to his defense as though he were something of an underdog being unfairly targeted by the majority. Seems to me that there's a remarkable lack of appreciation for what goes on around these boards involved in arriving at such a conclusion. Nors is many things. A victim is not one of them.
Again I do not care about the Nors feuds and that whole dynamic. If I think he is right I side with him, if I think he is wrong I side with Mikey ;) I just look at the team and the situations and go with whatever I think will happen.

Singleton could be moved to ILB and starting next to Dat.
I think Shanle or Fowler would get that job before Singleton; both are better IMO than Singleton or James.

That could be Jack.

James certainly hasn't knocked my socks off.

Not around enough to oppose him as often as his posts might warrant. In any event, can't see how such opposition would constitute a "personal fued". Indeed, without it, these forums would be reduced from an exchange of ideas to a mere sharing of ideas.

It may be my tone you're reacting to. I don't deny that my comments to Nors typically contain more than a hint of biting sarcasm. But I suspect that he also would not deny (or shouldn't) that his posts often drip with a smug "I told you so" tone (sometimes punctuated by a petulant "woe is me" attitude). So far we've both managed to keep it at that and not get personal. Given this, my own view is "no harm no foul". When it goes beyond that, I'll be sure to monitor my reactions to him, as you suggest.

I was originally responding to your parenthetical comment that Singleton might even be displaced on the roster. Your words were: "Fujita will displace Singleton in the starting lineup (if not the roster) shortly." Singleton's losing his roster spot was the crux of Nors prediction and the source of my disagreement with him. That prediction has so far proven to be completely wrong, and I expect it will continue to be wrong throughout this season, at least. Later, you claimed that Nors "is right; not necessarily that Singleton will be cut but that he will be out of the starting lineup." Since that wasn't the prediction (and is something few would have disagreed with following the drafting of Burnett), I don't see how Nors is in any way "right".
