I can't believe the childish whining about the Skins winning or the Eagles tanking or the foolish belief that Tampa Bay will crush anyone in the playoffs.
1. The Skins (no one hates them more than I) deserve this more than we do... I still can't believe they finished the season winning 5 games in a row...anyone want to venture a guess as to when Dallas last won 5 games in a row???? WE couldn't even win 1 freakin' game against either NY or Wash when it counted...the same 10-6 record would have us locked in if we'd beaten Washington...instead they totally obliterated us. I hate their guts and will hope they get embarrassed in the playoffs, but anyone who says they don't deserve to be there is just stupid.
2. The Falcons tanked it and never showed up...The Eagles, playing without their best CB and with other injuries on defense and missing 5 starters on offense, including their QB, RB, and best WR and best OT gave them a better game when it meant nothing than we gave them when our season was on the line, and we blamed most of our misfortune on the one injury to our OT. The Eagles showed up...Reid tried to win that game. McMahon had turned the ball over 3 times, including the final center snap fumbled before being replaced...he threw at least 4 other passes into double and triple coverage that should have been picked...going to Detmer wasn't a horrible move...once WAshington had the lead, they played entirely differently and destroyed the Eagle offense.
3. The main reason I wanted to make the playoffs is because TB is probably the most overrated team in the playoffs. Atlanta had them beaten last week and missed a 20 yard fg. Look at the teams in their division that TB got to play twice each...horrible. They played the 2nd easiest schedule in the NFL (#31) this season while we played the 8th hardest.
It would make me sick, but it would not surprise me one bit to see Washington shut down Cadillac Williams and make Simms look like the inexperienced QB he really is.
It will be sickening, but I fully expect Washington and NY to do very well in the playoffs. Chicago goes with the inexperienced Grossman...TB with the inexperienced Simms. I won't be at all surprised to see either NY or Washington in the NFC championship game....sick thought...
All we can do is enjoy the game tonight and hope Parcells now feels he's close enough to make the type of FA moves that he failed to make in recent years because he wasn't sure 1-2 players would really make us that close.
If a big name OLman or WR or FS becomes available, we need to go get them this year. The draft can help, but this year the draft won't get us over the hump for next season unless it's at safety.
