Witten is at the tail end of his career. I read an article recently where a NFL GM was said, "Teams don't fear Witten anymore."
He's still a good player, but not what he once was. We need to transition forward and that will involve some plays where Witten isn't on the field.
Besides all that, the Cowboys can go empty backfield to employ double slot and give Zeke a blow on the sidelines. So you have double slot plus Witten. Dallas did this in 2016.
Yeah I think we have alot of inside the box ol' school thinking here. To be honest, this article points out to me what I've been wanting on the outside, a bigger threat than TWill. In this formation, if they go one safety on top, this article says they don't want to do that with Dez and TWill. I believe they can with TWill, shade over on Dez, and make TWill win his battle.
Its a creative approach to football, something basketball does more rapidly.....everyone wants to be spaced out in basketball now like GS, but when you mention that in football it falls on dead ears. The key word is spacing, Pats are killing people with it, yet we just wanna be ol' school line up and DESTROY THEM.....lol, the game changes.
Our staff needs to be more creative, if they actually do this instead of thinking this is '92 and just line up and destroy, well they need to get their mind out the 90s. The game is about matchups, and we need to take advantage of them more on the outside.
Make no mistake, Zeke should have the ball alot (main one screaming about it in the playoffs), and he can in these formations especially if we force them to go with a bunch of DBs.
