Six years down the line it is difficult to argue with the excellence of the draft class but if there is a weakness it was a squandered second round pick, Anquan Boldin, Osi Umenyiora and Lance Briggs were passed up to take Al Johnson:
But the retro active signing of Ken Hamlin, second round pick of the class, and the fortuitous fall of Jason Witten to the third round make Al Johnson's selection forgivable.
How ironic that Montrae Holland was taken a pick before Bradie james in the fourth, apart from Asante Samuel James has been the finest pick of the later rounds of the 2003 NFL draft class.
Looking back at the first round, its hard to fault the selection of Terence Newman, only Kevin Williams and Troy Polamalu have been as productive; overall Dallas can make a strong claim to having had the best 2003 draft class in the entire NFL, and that's not counting the undrafted selection of Tony Romo:
