I haven't found a link for this yet. It was reported on the radio. He was on a long 22 hour drive back to College Station.

Tragic. Someone lost a son, someone lost a grandson.

I can't imagine the pain they are feeling.

Texas A&M defensive lineman Polo Manukainiu dies in auto accident

Texas A&M officials said Tuesday that defensive lineman Polo Manukainiu died Monday in an automobile accident in Albuquerque, N.M.

Manukainiu was a 19-year-old redshirt freshman. Also killed in the crash were Gaius Vaenuku, an incoming member of the Utah football team, and Andrew Uhatafe. All three were from the town of Euless, Texas.

The driver of the vehicle and another passenger, whose names have not been released, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

As a Ute fan, terrible thing. Looks like the driver (another Ute freshmen who survived) overcorrected to the right and rolled. Probably fell asleep at the wheel.

He was the only one wearing a seatbelt and lived. Goes to show you that you have to wear your seatbelt in your car. By and large, rollover fatalities are due to not wearing one.

He's going to have a heavy conscience the rest of his life.

Unfortunately in fatal car crashes it is the driver who most often survives and the passengers who do not.
