I don't like the baby-with-the-bathwater revolutionary upheavals being proposed here. We do NOT need to get rid of Jason Garrett, for one. I would support replacing WP with Garrett but nothing more drastic than that.

We're missing a few pieces here and there that have largely, if not universally, agreed upon. Here's my list FWIW:

  • We need a new CB to replace Reeves. Nothing new here and it's all but guaranteed to happen.
  • We need to upgrade over AA at inside linebacker.
  • As intelligently and admirably as he has played, I'd like an upgrade over Kosier at LG -- a mauler that fits the profile.
  • We need a WR or two for depth, replacement of the aged and infirmed, to give Crayton a more humbling role.
  • AND my most controversial opinion: I'd like an upgrade over Ratliff. I'm not sold that he is as good as advertised. I know he got the money, I know the CW is that he's quite good but I just don't buy it. Dominant 3-4s are built outside in from the NT and I would rather we get a Ngata type than build around Ratliff (or Johnson or Ferguson for that matter.)

I can agree with all your points except Ratliff. I've watched him for two years and he just gets better and better. Granted, he's not 340 pounds (Shaun Rogers, anyone) but you don't see him on the sideline sucking oxygen with the game on the line.

I'd like to move Ratliff to DE and get another primary NT.

Maybe we keep Fergy for 1 more year unless we can find that guy.

Our secondary is not nearly athletic enough to keep up in a pass-happy NFL. Anthony Henry, Roy Williams, and Ken Hamlin are average or below-average athletes at their positions by NFL standards.

He has certainly gotten better but something about it just doesn't convince me. Our run D up the middle was soft tonight, IMO...

Another example of baby-with-the-bathwater suggestions: dumping Gurode and Colombo. This is nuts. They had bad games but Gurode has been one of the best centers in the league for most of the year and do any of you guys remember how long we went with sorry-*** RTs? These guys are hard to replace and the really good ones don't always look good -- it's a hard position to consistently avoid looking foolish.

I agree with it all except for the head coaching change. I don't see any evidence whatsoever that would suggest that Garrett is qualified to lead this team.

But player-wise, yes. Reeves, Akin, and maybe even Henry need to go. I agree on Ratliff, but I think he starts at DE over Spears next year anyway. Let's face it, we just had to make do with Ratliff at NT when Fergy went down, and he did well. But having a 34 NT be the lightest guy on your line isn't ideal.

Not sure where we find one, though, unless we get lucky in the draft. Of course, Fergy would be my starting NT in '08, though some would cut him to save a couple million bucks.

I don't know what to do about Roy. Don't even feel like tackling that question right now.

First of all, REVEES MUST GO!! THIS MOTHER EFFER....Second of all...we need a new WR ....we need a good #2 WR. IDK why we extended crayton (mind boggling) but I feel like we should pick up a good #2 WR via FREE AGENCY and use stanbach as a #3(depending how good he is..he CANNOT be worse than crayton).

Okay..and Marion Barber is fine...we do NOT need a high RB draft pick..only one that can come in as a "change of pace" back for Marion..like they have in Diego with LT.

yeah move Ratliff to end and have Fergy at NT. Spears and Hatcher as backups. Tank backs up Fergy. If Fergy is healthy ext year I think everybody will like our line.

We don't need any depth WRs. We need starters, preferably two.

1) Sign Flo to a T.O. like deal, that ensures if he ever drops off, we can cut him with few ramifications, but pays him handsomely in the meantime.
2) Resign Hamlin.
3) Extend T.O.
4) Bye-Bye Julius, Reeves
5) Draft a starter caliber CB, RB, and WR. (Not easy)
6) Sign quality FA CB, RB, and WR. Goodbye Austin and/or Hurd.

Banking on Fergie coming back healthy is a little risky for me but I'd rather them do that than pencil in Ratliff as the starter.

Ratliff is as good as advertised.....but not at NT. I fully expect to see him starting at DE for Spears next season.

ratliff is a prototypical 3/4 DE. he played NT because there was no one else when Fergy went down. the odd man out here is marcus spears, not ratliff.

If that's what they were thinking when they resigned him, then great.

The OL seemed porous when we played good teams; Leonard Davis was obviously very good all year; Gurode was good most of the year; Columbo is still learning/getting better - too many penalties/needs more experience and discipline; Flozell made another pro bowl and had too many penalties once again - LT is a tough position. Kozier... I don't know that he's the answer there at RG - I too would like to see a mauler there to help solidify the middle of that line - that's where too many pass-rushers came through all year long imo.

Romo didn't have much time for much of the game yesterday; he got hurried and knocked down way too many times!!! This team wouldn't have had a chance against the Patriots in the Super Bowl, and thus, in hindsight they are better off being out of the playoffs now... Owner Jones can't stand this outcome and he can't say "we're real close, we don't need to change much".

The secondary needs help! Seems like good teams were able to complete balls over the middle and against Reeves almost at will.

Okay, so how did this team finish 13-3? I felt all year that this team was blessed in that up through November many of the teams they faced were missing key personnel due to injuries. I felt the Patriot game was one of the few true indicators of how good this team is at this time - this team needs help at several positions! LG, WR, RB, DB's, NT; special teams!!!

If they lose both Sporano and Garrett then how much will the offense change and how far back will that set this team once again... Without offensive upgrades, well, that's too difficult to think about right now...
