Now that I have had a few days to decompress after the Parsons trade I had to stop and think how this would have gone down the last 20 plus years. Jerry always liked his stars and it didn't matter what they did or what kind of locker room guy you were as long as you produced on the field. Jerry always went after the high profile highly productive problem child guys like Charles Haley, Alonzo Spellman, Terrell Owens, Greg Hardy, and David Irvin just to name a few. Now I don't wanna say that Parsons was a problem child but he was a massive distraction when it came to his podcast, social media, contract talks, and being subpar in the run game. For many years, Jerry would have ignored all of that and would have signed him and not thought twice about it, however, it looks like Jerry has changed his ways and he is now more concerned about the culture of the Cowboys instead of one superstar player. So with that I give Jerry credit here, and this trade will improve the Cowboys not only with the addition of Clark stuffing the middle but building through the draft with those two first-round picks.

I said this in another thread but this might be a signal of a philosophical shift in how they view the roster. They may be moving away from market resetting players to a more team oriented approach. Instead of having one massive superstar we have 4 or so above average players that play as a team.

This is what we did in the 90’s. Our ‘92 team led tye NFL in defense but no one made the pro bowl. And that was back when the pro bowl meant something.

Planned or otherwise, this was the right call to make. For the first time, in a long time, Jerry was in a position of strength for a tough negotiation.

I won't give Jerry enough credit, that this was his plan all along, but he ended up figuring it out, and making the right decision for the betterment of the team.

He literally tried to sign him to a massive deal. All that stuff you listed is exactly what Jerry wants you to be focusing on, but the fact is NONE of that bothered him enough to not offer him 46 million a year. No...the reason for this is he made Jerry mad because he wanted to deal directly with Micah and Micah told him to go through his agent. Jerry is a petulant child, a narcissist, and a garbage human being.

That said, the trade was the right move, but only because he already hamstrung this organization with Daks terrible deal and you couldn't have 44% of the cap being used on 3 players.

Yeah, let's trade our best player and sure fire HOF DE. But resign a mediocre QB as the highest paid player ever in football. This is senile Jerry losing it and he will step down in 2 years. Stephen will take over and hired a GM and we will be back in business

Post of the day.

Jerry is a champion of team culture.

If this were true, he’d fire himself as he is the single biggest enemy of winning.
Such loyal fandom ... now that is some great listening. :flagwave:

Take a look, go ahead, and collect your spare change to make the purchase.

This was different because it became personal to Jerry when his way of doing business began to get called out publicly. This was just as much ego driven as any of the previous controversial actions he's taken. Only different because it led to a trade rather than an acquisition.

It was different to hear him finally talk about the glaring issue of run defense. Even though he probably brought it up for the wrong reasons, at least he brought it up! lol
