Most of us knew that Garrett needed to be gone before this year. Some were calling for it after the three 8-8 years. I wanted to give him time to complete his process because he was trying to rebuild the team and was using some scrap parts during the process.

Then came 12-4 in 2014 and it looked like the process might actually be close to complete. The wheels fell off in 2015, though, but Romo was hurt for most of that year and Dez was hurt for half of it. Then in 2016 we bounced back despite having a rookie QB starting and went 13-3. We followed that up by dropping to 9-7 in 2017 and missing the playoffs ... but Elliott was suspended for six games and our offensive line depth was terrible when Tyron had to miss some games.

Despite that excuse, that's when I jumped off the Garrett train and realized that his process is never going to be complete and he just doesn't have what it takes to get us to the Super Bowl. I might have been a little slow compared to some of you (those who rightly noted that we should be better than 1-11 without Romo), but 2014 and 2016 earned him some slack in my book.

Then in 2018, there were some clear problems the first half of the year, but what the front office did at wide receiver was a legitimate excuse since we got going after acquiring Cooper. Garrett also won his second playoff game, so there was no way the Joneses were going to move on at that point, sacrificing Linehan instead.

I said all that to say, this is the first year where we've sucked under Garrett where there hasn't been some reasonable excuse. We've been relatively healthy and we have (enough) talent at each position and yet the same coaching flaws are showing, which is allowing them to be recognized for what they are. This is a good thing because the Joneses have had to sober up to the fact that while the players could be executing better, the coaching is failing the talent. It's too bad the excuses covered this up as long as they did.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the Garrett Sucks Club.
