In the words of a wise philosopher, open holes and I'll find you a thousand guys who can run through em. Still think they end up with an RB first four rounds, or maybe some low ball offer for AP post draft.

Why not throw a flyer on a kid like Corey Grant of Auburn? Dunbar sized with decent hands and 4.3 speed. Talk about a potential weapon. Rang says he has good vision too....has kick returning experience as well.

I think they go RB early, but after considering a lot of scenarios, doubt they take character risk guys. The dynamic with Dez and Hardy is already enough.

In addition to the negative effect on the offense, does Jerry want to be second-guessed on a weekly basis for not re-signing Murray? If Jerry/Stephen are smart, they will draft a RB by the end of Round 2.

It would be pretty discouraging that after all the rhetoric about sticking to their guns but saying how important the run game is that they end up signing Darren McFadden and drafting another body on the 3rd day of the draft. That would pretty much tell me that the "smart" things that happened last year were actually luck.

They're drafting an RB. IMO, the minute they wouldn't offer Murray anymore money than 6M, they had a contingency plan in place that has more to it than bringing in McFadden with 200K guaranteed money. I also think we bring in two new faces into TC to compete (hopefully one that can play ST so we have options with Randle).

I agree, but we are one injury away (knock on wood) on the offensive line to being average or only slightly above. We cannot rationalize not adding a talented rookie RB to replace Murray by repeating over and over "but we have the best offensive line in football." We need to come out of this draft with a top RB or, in my mind, we will have taken a huge step back from last year's success.

What Jones said today is part lie, part truth.

I think they are lying if they say they are not interested in RBs. I also think they are telling the truth in the manner that if they somehow did not force a RB choice they would be fine with the complete garbage on the roster.

I think if things fall a certain way (where they are getting better value players at other positions) for the first 3-4 rounds...I think there comes a point where they ask the question...Are the remaining running backs available in the draft better than the ones we already have on the roster.

And if they do somehow pass on the RBs in the first few rounds...that would be a valid question.

The exception might be a RB that they view as a Special Teams dynamo (returner).

I think they will traget a RB, I think he is just staying it is not going to be a situation where they sell out for one.

The longer they wait, the easier the answer becomes to that question. I have little doubt that any of the top four-five backs are better than what is on this roster.

Buuuummmpppp

Yes, good call. I thought the same thing. I figure there were probably a few RBs that if they fell to the right spot they would take them, but they were not going to force the issue and just taking one late just to take one would not really help.

I would have loved to have gotten Duke Johnson. I think he would have been dynamic behind this offensive line and with these skill guys.

If he had fallen to their pick in the 3rd, I think he would have been a Cowboy.

Duke is the guy I wanted. Or David Cobb/ Buck Allen in the 4th.

I really feel like Jerry and the boys were caught off guard that Gregory slipped to 60. I believe RB would have been the pick if not for that. The rest of the draft was off after the 2nd. I think getting Gregory and passing on RB in the 2nd threw off their whole draft plan off.

This is a great thread. Some of the posts are just priceless.

I actually do agree with this completely.
