As much as I've worried about it since yesterday, I've been looking over the numbers and I feel a little better and I think others shouldnt temper their enthusiasm QUITE as much as they are...
We had between $8.5 and $9 million before the penalty yesterday (including Spencer's franchise tag number, which he hasnt signed the tender for yet). The $5 million hit we were forced to accept this year drops that to $3.5 million.
We just cut Buehler which gets us to about $5 million.
Cutting Newman at 4 today will save us $6 million (up to $11 million total).
Dez Bryant's restructure will save us a million when it goes through ($12 million total).
Restructuring Free and Scandrick as we are expected to do will free up $8.5 million ($20.5 million total).
Cutting Kenyon Coleman will save another $1.5 million if we choose to do that.
We can't be going after all the big names but we still can have more cap room than about half the teams in football, especially considering few teams can easily free up $15 million with three simple moves that they are expected to make anyway (Free, Scandrick and Newman).
