A point about injuries...

The Giants played with a makeshift group of LB's AND a makeshift offensive line...

And we all saw the results.

I always cringe a bit...(and grumble some expletives toward my computer) when I read about how our offense went downhill when we lost Flozell...etc etc etc...

I'm not saying that injuries don't impact a team...of course, they do.

But we saw a Giant team overcome a ton of them today.

Good teams do that.

I think KC expected an easy game due to the injuries and read all the posts and reports that the Giants didn't have a chance....I hope we don't do the same tomorrow....

:hammer:

In today's NFL.....you had better have subs that can play. That equals good coaching that can have them ready to play.-

Juke i was thinking the same thing, most of the time, when someone is hurt at least there is a serviceable replacement.

Then again, im not too down on tucker, so its looking more like we had problems from the start. We couldnt run the ball well when we had Flo, and it sure seems like plenty of blame on Oline besides LT.

And hey, the KC defense was awful...BUT the Giant line did open holes...

On defense, the LB's probaby had 20 starts among the three of them.

They just seem to be better prepared...I think it's a combination of, as you noted, decent replacements....but also, solid coaching.

Yes, the Giants played well without two starting LBs. But haven't we not had two starting LBs all year? Dat and Al are starters. We lost Flozell, we didn't have Henry for a while. Our backup LT Rogers is gone, Blade the 3rd DT (fat mess in the 3-4), Kalen Thorton hurt.

Everyone has injuries. I just started to get irritated about how the mighty Giants had their first injuries of the year last week and now it's headline news. Seattle lost possibly it's best secondary player, nearly dead, eh, write a story, back page. Team Tagliabue wants Manning Manning bad.

I think on Def we have hae injuries and stepped up and held our own. But offense has struggled, and i guess its more a case of us just being serviceable on OLine BEFORE injuries, now without Flo, it just show up even more that we were hiding a weakness.

Lets face it, the OLine has not been able to get a yard on 3rd and one for 3-4 years now.

I understand having to upgrade the defense this year took priority, and i beleive that the brain trust thought was that Rivera would upgrade the O Line. Its obvious signing Rivera may have been some improvement at RG than what we had last yaer, but it wasnt near enough to correct what has been a bad unit for 4 years. And then the injury to Flo just took a below average unit down another notch.

Did you even SEE the game?

For one, Larry Johnson ripped them a GOOD one even more so than he did to us. Two, those KC WRs had so many butterfingers, it was just laughable-they should have doubled their score. And three, that was the WORST junior high-schoolish tackling EVER out there. Say all you want about Tiki, but about 1/2 of his yards were from just THAT.

And you DID see how Eli's play was impacted negatively sans his blind-sided T(he was rushing his throws and getting happy feet).

No-injuries are nil excuse. However-this Gints team were lucky to be playing against this type of opponent today. If it were the Colts or Chargers, they would have gotten KILLED.

But Bledsoe was still making alot of plays when Flo was in there. Proves the point that Drew doesn't exactly need that "perfect" OL to be in rhythm-and every QB at least needs that blind-sided rush protector.

FWIW-that other Packer guard(Wahle) isn't making an impact in Carolina either. Maybe it's taking them time to learn a completely different blocking scheme, and they'll have it down by next year. FWIW-Simeon Rice's first year in Tampa was lukewarm 'cuz he was adapting to a new scheme. Look where he is now. :D

I totally agree. I'm tired of the excuses myself. Parcells has said on numerous occasions that if a guy is good enough to make the team.....he would have confidence in playing them anytime. His has obviously failed to provide adequate back ups at key positions. JJ pockets were at his disposal and he didn't take full advantage of it.

Welcome to the free agency and salary cap era, my friend. And high ankle/groin sprains era to boot!

On the nosey.

And I'll take ya one step further...alot of it has to do with the coaches getting backups properly prepared for a game.

I can't STAND the Giants..especially since I live in NY...but that said, they did a good job of holding things together in spite of numerous injuries.

Usually depends on WHO gets injured too. If Tiki gets hurt, doubt their O would be the same.

Sure-Belichick is a master at filling holes quickly, but losing Rodney Harrison was HUGE, nonetheless.

If Harrison was injured last year, no way the Pats even make the AFC Title game.

I've been quite surprised and disappointed with our preparation on several occasions. Bill will always blame it on execution rather than the fact that they're ill prepared.
