Yeah, the NFL wants parity. That's the way things have been going for 20+ years.

Right now, there are a handful of good teams who beat up on bad teams - Dallas, Philly, SF, Miami, Baltimore. They beat up on bad teams, but games with each other are toss ups. Then there is the top dog - KC, who have both a HOF QB and Head Coach.

That isn't anything new. That is how the NFL has been for the last 23 years. There were good teams throughout the 2000s - Baltimore, Pittsburgh, New Orleans to name a few, who whoop *** on bad teams, but split games with the other good teams, while the team with the HOF Head Coach and QB (New England) was the top dog.

That's how it goes. You either win a Super Bowl by having an awesome HC and QB combo, or luck into it/go on a hot streak like the 2007 Giants, 2012 Ravens, 2017 Eagles...

If Detroit grabs the one, we won’t need to beat both Philly and SF, they will likely play each other.

If we win the 5/4 game, we would travel to Detroit and SF/Phil would play each other, unless one loses.

If we don’t win the division, we need Detroit in the one seed. Best shot.
True, we could end up with a similar situation as last year. An easy wild card game, followed by San Fran or Philly.

Still, the main point is, it'd be three road games, and that doesn't bode well.

They would be in Detroit for the second game in that scenario. Imagine not understanding something that basic but thinking you can predict the future.

So much wrong in this post although no one should be surprised considering the OP.

Makes up narrative for convenience, not accuracy:
Claim: Dallas has been doing this for most of two decades

No they haven’t. The pervious narrative was that they play down to their competition, complete opposite of the current baseless narrative. Reality is Dallas had the most wins against playoff teams in the league last year.

Does not understand tiebreakers:
Philly has all the tie-breakers because the Cowboys' losses are against NFC teams.

Just wrong and already explained to you.

Does not understand the nature of the NFL:
Claim: But really good teams don't give these games much thought outside of a good time on Sunday in the fall.

That’s why SF beat the Browns and the Vikings.
That’s why the Eagles beat the Jets.
That’s why the Chiefs who should be .500 because it would help your inane argument, lost to the Broncos

Does not understand the schedule he’s posting about:
Claim: Go Chiefs and 49ers these next two weeks.

The Eagles play the Bills next week.

What a terrible post.

Hey, I enjoy watching these regular season blowouts, too. They're always good times!

The truth is, things don't look all that great at the moment. Not trying to be a curmudgeon, just looking at the reality of situation.

We must admit, this is all just par for the course. Dallas has been doing this for most of two decades, just slapping run-of-the-mill teams around during the regular season and getting heaps of praise from everywhere. Same old song a dance, version 2023.

You can virtually count the really big wins on one hand. At Seattle, a couple of Pittsburgh games, at Indy against Peyton, a couple of Saints games, perhaps. But for the most part, it's just handling business against rag-tag teams that don't mean much of anything in the grand scheme. This Cowboys team has failed to win a big game against a contending team in a long time.

Yes, of course, you have to win these games against losing teams and rack up wins; otherwise, you never get your chance to in January. Fair enough, and it's good to be on a roll of good play in this stretch. But really good teams don't give these games much thought outside of a good time on Sunday in the fall. They're just necessary steps to the real season later on. Ask Emmitt, Troy, Roger, and Drew about that.

Philly has all the tie-breakers because the Cowboys' losses are against NFC teams. KC could provide some help tonight, but I think the Eagles win that game against the struggling Chiefs, who are lucky not to be .500. The Eagles have two tough games these next two weeks, but finish with a cakewalk at the end while we play our toughest stretch against Seattle, Philly, Miami, Buffalo, and Detroit.

Dallas likely has to win at least 6 of their last 8 to even have a chance to pass Philly, whose bad loss was to an AFC team unlike our loss to Arizona. Again, can't just catch them; Dallas has to pass them. Injuries aside, of course, as is the caveat of any football season.

A wild card means a three-game road trip as the No. 5 seed against Detroit, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. Recent history doesn't give great feels about that.

Go Chiefs and 49ers these next two weeks. We'll see.
Too many games left to play to pencil end division winners in the NFC.
You list Detroit as being the 4 seed...at 8-2, they are 3 games better than the leading NFC South team ...New Orleans at 5-5, with both Atlanta and Tampa Bay one game back at 4-6.
Philadelphia begins a tough 5-game slate tonight; let's see how the standings look three weeks from now when the Eagles go to AT&T Stadium Dec. 10th

The first and goal at the 6 will be ultimately what decided the season, I fear.

Of course, any fan wants the #1 seed, but there is only 1 team getting a bye. Frankly, the bye week in the playoffs has been brutal to us in recent history. Just make the playoffs. Just go in hot and on a roll. We are either good enough or we aren’t. There’s a good chance we play at least two of those teams even if we win the division, but don’t get the #1 seed.

I‘ll root hard like everyone else, but just make the playoffs. Running the playoff gauntlet or even part of it would be sweet to me.

OK, but wasn't really going for an exact layout of the playoffs. Just pointing out that it's going to be 3 road games in the playoffs unless the Eagles catch a bad cold.

The Vikings showed who they were and lost to the Giants in the playoffs.

The Eagles didn't even care, and Hurts didn't play.

The Bengals win was shocking, especially with Cooper Rush playing.
Can’t any win be explained away? Correction, any “Cowboy” win?

0-2 against .500+ teams with the toughest part of their schedule starting now. An exciting time for sure.

When both teams are legit contenders and playing for something truly meaningful, then it's a measuring stick game.

Dallas continues to fail in these games badly every time.

Until that changes, this is all just table dressing.
