Cowboys won 3 super bowls in the 90's with the following:

Stud RB
Massive talented OL
Overachieving defense that had DL rotation that had no drop off in talent
Stud QB with complimentary receivers who knew their role on the team.

Okay.... today's team has the OL and RB. The defense can be good enough to win playoff games once the secondary is healthy..... but the running game is what set the boys apart during that run in the 90s

On offense there are some similarities to those offenses in the 90's.

However, this defense is not nearly as good as those defenses were.

It's almost impossible in salary cap NFL to have a great offense and defense. If we can somehow bring the defense to above average levels that's all that will be needed to win a title

  • 1993 Cowboys had a massively talented DL with probowlers and all pro selections. Haley, Tolbert, Jimmie jones, Russell Maryland, Tony Casillas, Leon let, and Chad Hennings.
:dance::dance::dance::dance:
  • In the secondary we had DarrenWoodson, Brock Marion, James Washington, Thomas Everret, Bill Bates, Kenny Gant, Kevin Smith, Larry brown, and Dave Thomas. Sick! :lmao2::dance::dance:
  • At line backer we had Ken Norton Jr., Darin Smith, Dixon Edwards, Robert Jones, and Godfrey Myles :dance:

This team our offense may be better in some ways than the 90's teams.
Then the defense is not as good, but is helped by the offense and top, so maybe it will work .
So far we have been lucky, have to see if our luck holds up.

I think that defense was so much more than "overachieving", but I get your point.

the 90s DL could get after the QB consistently (pressures, sacks, forced fumbles, causing the QB to rush throws that lead to INTs)
2016 DL gets to the QB once in a blue moon

We had depth on the defense side in the 90's, several of the backups would have been starters elsewhere. Fast, quick and fresh....that DL rotation was amazing and we kept drafting good LBs. The secondary was good and could rely on the great pressure provided up front.

Charles Haley and Thomas Everett were key acquisitions in 92 that made the Cowboys legit and the #1 defense in the league. The 92 and 93 Cowboy teams were probably top 5 in the history of the NFL because of how good they were in all 3 phases of the game and the competition they faced at the time.

Different time and era now but I'm just hoping the current defense gives us a chance to win ball games, they've done pretty well so far.

The '90s defense was very good with multiple pro bowlers at many positions.

Michael Irvin was not a complimentary anything.

Cool to be known throughout the NFL as "The Playmaker" just for being a complimentary player lol
