A question about comp picks

I should know this by now..Maybe I never paid attention or missed it, but I always thought that it didn't really matter how much your FA's make with their new team, I thought the picks were based on whether they were starters, and playing time. Let's say Leary strikes it rich this off season, does that potentially increase the value the pick we get next year?

It goes by the size contract they sign plus some weight added by how good they do.

So yes, if Leary strikes gold and starts most games, Dallas will get a good comp pick.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, much appreciated. :)

Do you get a comp pick for losing a rfa?
No, RFA compensation would be determined by the tender that the team placed on the player who is an RFA - 1st round, 2nd round, or just the qualifier (may be mistaken, but I believe a qualifying offer is equal to their original draft round). If a team signs a player away from us who is an RFA, we receive compensation based on the tender. In the event that the player was originally an UDFA, then we wouldn't receive any compensation (like the Raiders receiving none after we signed Mayowa from them last year after they had tendered him).
