This defense is going to need to play lights out following the bye, and the return of these players over the next couple of weeks, if we're going to have this team in any position even close enough for us to possibly make the playoffs once Romo returns.

That's just not true. This division isn't going to run away from Dallas. 9-7 will win it. Anything 4-6 or better when Romo returns, and they're still very much in this. I'm hoping for 5-5.

You can't depend on Romo going on some big winning streak when he gets back. They have 3 tough games at the end of the season and Washington twice who always play us tough. If they are any worse than 4-5 by the Miami game I think the season is likely over. Unless 7-8 wins actually gets them the division, which seems improbable, but possible.

The offense did enough to win against the Saints. Just a small improvement from the defense and that game would have been a Cowboys win.

The offense did do enough but just barely and it didn't exactly inspire confidence in their ability. I think the Saint's D bailed 'em out with timely penalties about three times. Weeden throws the ugliest fade I have ever seen but damned if they didn't keep calling the play. That was terrible. I don't understand why they didn't replace Weeden with somebody during the offseason. I know the loss is not all on him but man, he is horrible!

thats great but weeden ruins everything in that mix

Haven't you heard the guy "did everything you could ever ask for from a back up QB", "did enough to win the game", "had a good game", "led the game winning drive" (yeah, someone put it that way), and that "you'd be an imbecile to believe he was the problem" last night? Guy was splendid, man!

He is 45 of 59 2 TD and 1 int and a rating of 108. I think he is doing as much as can be expected from a backup.

Cowboys won't win a game until Romo gets back. They'll be 2-7 by that point.

Those are nice players to have on a healthy season but not when Weeden is starting.

Not too far from the truth. With strong defense, Dallas wins both the Atl game and the NO game though.

Weeden frustrates the hell out of me, there is no denying that ... but the defense petering out at the end is what did it.

Now, would the defense have been worn out with Romo converting 3rd downs? Probably not.

Bottom line is that the team is decimated by injuries right now and they were close to winning the two games they lost. As really good players start to come back week-by-week, those close plays and games will start to fall Dallas' way.

Just hang on brother! Help is coming... and when everybody is back, there is going to be hell to pay.

Did you see the absolute mess that the Seattle offensive line is? That game is suddenly much more winnable. Wilson is getting blasted every other play, and they can't run the ball at all.
