How can we force a need? The only thing we don't need is a kicker.
Well you have to be smart though. Because you know Dak is here for the next 4 years. So taking a Sheduer or something is stupid because you know he won't play.
Taking a guard here is stupid.
Taking a linebacker there is stupid.
Taking a corner here with Bland and Diggs is stupid.
Taking a left tackle with Steele and Guyton here is stupid.

Now some positions you can never have too many of. You can never have too many edge rushers, defensive tackles....but you gotta be smart. I'm afraid what's gonna be left there is a tight end or a running back that we can get in later rounds and either we take it or we get too cute and trade down.

I'm not opposed to taking a LEFT tackle at 12 if they are BPA (Banks or Campbell). Cut Steele and get Guyton Back to RT which is probably where he belongs anyways.

Not only that, look how Zeke got worse every year after his rookie year.
The year we took him at #4, at #5 Derwin James is still playing great football now for the Chargers. And Zeke will be outa the league.
Cannot use the #12 pick on a RB !
Um, I think you are remembering Jalen Ramsey instead of Derwin James.

SF collapsed last game like Dallas so they get to pick right before the Cowboys round after round bad news . Having said that CBS Sports mock has some interesting tidbits , Jalon Walker Georgia Edge going to the 49ers and what do you know the Cowboys next get Jihaad Campbell an explosive LB Alabama.

Just what the doctor ordered a guy who can Rush the passer and also soften the blow of losing Overshown can hook up into the LB spot and another young player, Lifafau Parsons Kneeland Bland as this defense needs a complete draft overhaul .

CBS Mock has Hunter going to the Giants the DB / WR some consider the best player in the draft . I don’t know who they expect to play QB though ?

Diggs has barely played in 2 years and Bland isn't signed long term.
Steele should be cut Post June and Guyton is the same player he was in college which is not good enough. But the tackles in this draft project better at guard.
Of course they wont take a QB.
Linebacker, TE and RB wouldn't be my choice. But we have nothing there right now that should prevent us from taking an elite player there.

So I am not focused on any position per say. I want BPA. Whoever that is. If he is a difference maker, take him. Hopefully that is at WR or DE or DT. But I'm not fussy. Not after watching what they put out there this season.

Guyton has talent it’s up to Dallas and the player himself to get the most out of it . I would experiment with Asim Richards as LT move Guyton over to right tackle and perhaps have Steele as depth .

If you cut Steele who’s the depth at tackle. Would rather concentrate this draft on defense upgrade then OT and TE’s again …..

Jeanty or one of Georgia kids on defense. The real playmakers are going in the top 5. Hunter, Carter, Graham have potential to be walk in stars.
This offense desperately needs another WR..

If Lamb goes down we got nothing really.

Turpin is our 2nd biggest offensive threat right now.

What wideout would be worth the 12th pick? Plus are they going to come in and make an impact. Drop one of Dak’s passes might end up in the doghouse.

They wont cut Steele. I just think there is an argument you can make for it. Guyton had the same issues at RT in college that he did at LT this year. He simply isn't learning. You cannot coach someone up if they cannot learn. I agree on Richards. Make Guyton the swing and hopefully he develops enough to take over at RT at some point. I wouldnt spend more than a 6th on and O-Linemen even though I think we need one. But this isn't the year for it. Especially at OT.

If you want to maximize the window with dak I like jeanty. People use Zeke as an example but he carried this team for 4-5 years. Great RB makes dak better, and keeps the opposing offense off the field. Even if not we need to take a RB in the first three rounds.

Agree with you on merit

But then there are outliars such as Emmitt, Adrian P, Saquan, Henry...

But odds are you are correct,
A number 1 pik should be a 10 year Nfl starter at minimum

I get it but until Diggs or Steele are cut I have to assume they are here.

it is a risk but I agree to sit tight for this year on the OL. We have so many young players we do not have a good read on.

The thing is jeanty won't make a difference in the postseason when teams take the run away. So what the point? I think cowboy fans can say regular season wins vs weak teams don't move the needle anymore. Jeanty rushing for 200 vs the Giants is ehhhhh. We know when we see the chiefs next year our only hope is the defense shutting Mahomes down. They will suffocate Jeanty
That is why you have to be able to both run and pass. You cannot allow playoff Defenses to key on one or the other.

I think if you think Jeanty is a generational type player (or anyone else for that matter) then you take them. RB statistically is only going to be good for 5 years. SO?

Just be resolute on drafting another in 4-5 years and don't give him a second contract. If he holds out after year 3, sign a FA backup, and go with the backup till he gets back. Don't let him accrue one more year unless he shows up, and if he does then make him decide if he wants to destroy his second contract by not producing, or if he wants to keep producing. Production is he name of the game and if Jerry were a sports guy instead of a marketing genius, he would realize it. As a first rounder you get paid for 5 years, and production is what you get paid for. If he is still good at 5 years, then pay the man, and keep him till he stops producing.

That Lamb draft was when the world went crazy. If the scouts got to meet these kids at the combine CeeDee would have been a top 10 pick. Instead teams went with the Alabama boys. Thank goodness.
and even then, jefferson was the true steal. draft is crazy
