Yeah,
I think War Daddy Lawrence's contract last year had a bit of trivia attached to it as well. Something like the first defensive end or d player to have a fully guaranteed 100 or 110 million dollar contract.

Jerry sure takes care of His Guys no doubt.

Not insane for him.. He and the OL were the reason they even won the play-off game in Seattle and he times his hold-out perfectly.

And it showed how much faith they actually had in Dak at that time. They should have let him hold out, and then Dak would have had way less leverage.

He did lead the league in rushing 2 of his first three years and it would have been 3 in a row had he not been suspended in 2017.

I wasn’t a fan of the contract but at the time I saw Zeke as our most important player. He fell off fairly quickly after the extension.

I think it was a worthy investment that unfortunately went bad.

Zeke was amazing early on. He got greedy, held out, got paid and basically quit. He was so terrible last year it isn't even funny. He is the modern day athlete personified. He cared about his money and his brand. I do not blame him for it but I do not respect him for it either. In the end people and players always show who they really are. Fat boy is a man who was given incredible physical gifts and was able to use them to get everything he ever wanted. Congrats to him now disappear.

Yup.

He got paid and I'm not mad at that, get your money if you can, but I cringe anytime I see someone call him a "team player" as if he didn't hold out with 2 years left on his contract.

I guess I missed the memo that I need to pretend to be upset that he's no longer an anchor on this team.

This contract was due to Daks inefficiencies. The front office felt like they couldn't rely on Dak so they had to pay Zeke and give in to his demands. Let's be honest during Zekes suspension we kinda saw things for what they were. Had Zeke not bailed out Dak in 2016 this team would've been Romos and who knows how far they go that year.

As an aside, Chargers are in the same spot as Cowboys with Zeke on the rookie contract, except they have Herbert and fired Lombardi. They’ve basically told Ekeler to pursue FA to seek a trade.

They aren’t giving him a massive contract.

Very telling, huh?

An absolutely asinine contract. Jerry had hearts in his eyes. He was that in love with Zeke. Problem is he makes decisions about the Cowboys with emotion. You wouldn't think a business man like Jerry would do that. Can't blame Zeke for taking the bag. He's set for life.
