A Ridiculously Early Projection Of The Cowboys 2018 Draft Needs

http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2017...s-2018-draft-needs-demarcus-lawrence-sean-lee

...Wide Receiver: At this time next year Dez Bryant will have only two years remaining on his contract, and he will turn 30 in November of the 2018 season. Will Stephen Jones want to hand out a third contract to a 31, going on 32-year-old receiver when his contract is up after the 2019-20 season?

Unless Dez is willing to accept a reasonable deal below what he is making now it would seem unlikely.

The Ryan Switzer selection in the fourth round provides insurance for Cole Beasley (whose contract runs out following the 2018 season) so perhaps the 2018 draft will be when the team looks to add similar insurance for Bryant?

Unless Brice Butler or Noah Brown magically develop into elite, “number one” types you have to imagine the Cowboys will be more than happy to invest a high draft pick in the heir apparent to Bryant...

WR, all you said about Dez....if a big playmaker falls I would jump
Edge Rusher, unless Taco just lights it on fire or Gregory pulls a Lazarus...
OL, our depth is getting thin again
LB, how many more healthy season from Lee will we get?

Awuzie is probably going to be a very good #2 CB and Lewis is an ideal #3 CB(slot guy). We still need that #1 CB guy, someone who can match up with the Julio Jones', A.J. Green's, and Odell Beckham, Jr's of the world.
both can be 1s until I see otherwise

Follow the money.

WR: Dez will have two years left on his deal at the time of the draft with no apparent #1 type on the roster at the moment.

DE: Lawrence is in a walk year. If his replacement isnt on the roster (which it could be) DE will likely be a need again

RT: Free retire and while talented, our replacement Green has a very long line of injury issues.

TE: Behind Witten we have two 7th round picks. For all the talk of Rico, we still have to see it.

Players may step up at these positions making them not big needs. Conversely, players who are expected to be significant contributors at other positions may underwhelmed creating a need there

Agreed. I imagine LB is probably on that list as well. Even if Jaylon pans out, Lee is getting pretty long in the tooth.

How are we going to get this #1 CB if we are going to selecting at 32? Hope you like this!
