A Scenario I generated on Yahoo's site

We will win 2 outta 3.
The Pitt game actually meant nothing.

It would have made the rest of the season A LOT easier. We blew a tremendous opportunity.

You can say that again.

Throw in the fact that the media will feast even more on the December collapse talk.

13-3 with 7 minutes left down the drain.

I need a hug.

We just have to finish with the same record as Tampa Bay or Atlanta at this point and we're good. If Tampa Bay wins the NFC South, though, we're likely out unless we have a better record than Atlanta.

I'll be rooting for Carolina the rest of the season to win a bunch and for Tampa to lose, bank on the tie-breaker. Either that or we win a few and hope that the Falcons and 'Skins lose out.

2 things that would really help us IMO:

Panthers win Monday night versus the Bucs.

Bucs beat the Falcons next week.

Yes. If that happens, we'll almost assuredly get in as long as we beat the Eagles or the Giants AND the Ravens. We have to finish with AT LEAST the same record as ATL or better.

We just need to win. This game, although very disappointing, has to really give them a lot of confidence. They threw a win away. But they beat the snot out of them. I really believe if we had kept the pressure up we would have won that game with them getting less than 200 yards of offense.

I'm just worried they'll quit after today.

I hope they Are ready next week and this game doesn't drag.

They either will quit.......or it will harden them......

That's not correct. If we win out, we're in the playoffs, no matter what Tampa Bay and Atlanta do. And if we do lose one more, there are all kinds of ways we can still make the playoffs, even if Tampa Bay wins the South.

If we beat the Ravens and the Eagles, while Atlanta loses to either the Bucs, Vikings or Rams, we are in.

Bucs and Carolina don't matter-just root for the Falcons to lose.

I'm pretty sure that if we go 10-6 (e.g., lose to the Giants) we'd need both Atlanta and the Commanders to lose at least one more game each.

As long as Phili beats Washington, we would be in.
Yes Atlanta has to lose one more.

We'd need to beat the Giants, not the Ravens, in that situation. If we lose to the Giants, the Commanders could pass us.

It did make the rest of the season far more difficult. If had to lose one of this week and next week, this is the one to lose for sure but we had the game and that is what makes it painful.

If the Eagles beat the Skins, Falcons lose one more and we beat the Eagles and Ravens, we would be in.

Assuming the Commanders lose tonight.

Well, the Commanders are well on their way to that one.

I meant in addition to this game.

If the Commanders don't lose another game (other than this one), and we lose to the Giants, we'd need Carolina to lose two more games and Atlanta to lose one more game.

Thankfully the Commanders look like absolute crap.

What do we need to happen in the Carolina vs Tampa game?

Carolina win

We'd need Carolina to lose three more, not two, OR we would need Tampa Bay to lose three more, in addition to the Falcons losing once. We'd need the loser of the Monday night game between Carolina and Tampa Bay to go 1-2 the rest of the way or the winner to go 0-3.

Are you sure?

Because if we win out and Atlanta wins out we both have the same conf record then.

Then it goes to common opponents, have to have four.

Then strength of victory.

Those two scenarios would have to play out.

I think.
