Ok boys and girls..

I have had enough of the conversations b/w the media and now the owner about this.

I want to see Linehan open the game Sunday with a 5 receiver formation.

And run it every other series.

Force these receivers to step up and move the football.

Running this formation allows us to back the defense out of their 8 man fronts and makes room for guys to get open

It also allows Zeke to run or get him out as a receiver 1 on 1.

Most of our receivers are one step from being out of the NFL.

We have to decide if it's the receivers, the QB, the OL and their pass blocking or the playcalling that is the issue.

A litmus test is needed.

Going 5 wide negates our ability to exploit defenses. IE- there is no zeke to account for. Case in point is OT vs Htown. We have 5 run plays for a net 3 yards, but we actually passed for 10yards, 11 yards, then 8 yards, they should have thrown it more and used zeke as a decoy. You don't want zeke vs a CB routinely, you want him lined up as a RB, play fake then let him sneak out vs a LB and drop it to him like before. It's already been talked about how even when the WR's win their routes, they still do not get the ball so 5 wide isn't a solution as the defence can kill daks nerve with coverage. But you can take the same play and do a fake handoff to zeke to setup 1 on 1 matchups and open the intermediate routes for some easy gains....ala Rams style then build on that.

Slow down and read my post.

I suggested Zeke be placed in the slot.

If they want they can start him from the backfield than shift him to the slot or out wide.

It's how he scored last week.

The point is..

GET THE WR'S MOVING AROUND AND FORCE THE DEFENSE INTO COVERAGE MISTAKES.

We have an OL with Pro Bowlers who should be able to pass block on 3 step drops and throw.

If not..

replace the OL coach.

replace the WR coach.

Figure it out and put the pressure on the players to step up or bench them.

Heads need to start to roll after last year and this one.

You also can't go 5 wide with a Rb. It's an illegal formation.

5 Wide...Not 5 WR’s. Can’t have Zeke and 5 WR’s on the field at the same time. Unless you’re advocating we run the wildcat. Although with how bad our offense is at this point that doesn’t seem like such a horrible idea.

But you can run quick, effective passing plays just fine with 3 WR’s and a TE. Most teams in the league do. The Cowboys just don’t. 3 WR’s all running the exact same hook route seems like a better idea to Linehan/Garrett.

I feel ya but 5 wide is too easy to defend. Whats harder is misdirection. I prefer 3 wide, 1 TE, 1 RB but any varyation can work but you still have to give the impression zeke is the focal point running then let him slip out or whatever but it won't work as well if he just lines up in the slot.

Then leave Zeke in the backfield and put him in the pattern from there.

Swing him left..

Swing him right

Put him in motion.

Delay his release and send him up the middle.

Draw the plays in the dirt..

whatever.

Great idea, just don't think it is in that playbook we saw in the other thread :)

They've have have swung him. For no gain. We need to give our qb time and our qb need to hit his recievers

A solution to the wide receivers problem:

* a midget with 8 foot arms and 4.2 speed
The midgets can dig up the worm burners, and with the 8 foot arms he has a chance to catch the bird killers.
