11 games is definitely enough now to start getting true reads on things for not only us, but the teams we've played. I looked at numbers for the teams we've played through 10 games.
1) The teams we've played (including Oakland today) have a cumulative record of 48-66. We've only played 4 teams with above .500 records (5 if Atlanta wins Sunday) and we are 2-2 (3-2 if Atlanta wins)
2) Only two teams (NYG, Green Bay) have offenses ranked in the top-10. 6 rank 20th or worse, and we've played 3 of the 4 lowest ranked offenses. (Tampa is 29th, KC is 30th, Oakland was last).
3) We have played 4 of the top 9 scoring offenses (GB, NYG, Philly & Atlanta) But 7 opponents rank 20th or worse. (Seattle 22nd, Carolina 23rd, Denver 25th, KC 26th, Tampa 27th, Washington 29th, Oakland is last)
4) I think one thing thats more reflective of our defense (because we cant control who we play or how they play in their other games) is how our defense did compared to the other teams average. I dont have time to do yards, but in terms of points only Tampa, the Giants and KC scored more than their average against us. Denver hit right on their average. So the other 7 opponents (GB, Philly, Atlanta, Seattle, Carolina, Washington and Oakland) all scored under their average.
5) If you take away the first two games (probably the worst by far on our season) we're giving up only 14.2 pts per game. That would put us at 228 for an entire season. As is, we're on pace to allow 265pts.
6) Our last 5 opponents have a cumulative record of 32-19. Those teams rank 1st, 5th, 7th, 10th and 29th in scoring offense. In yards per game they rank 1st, 8th, 11th, 16th and 24th.
7) In terms of turnover margin, only 3 teams rank 20th or worse in TO margin and have a winning record. Dallas, Arizona and Pittsburgh. We rank 20th. Conversely, only 1 team in the top 11 of TO margin has a losing record (KC)
