A new season begins and many of us are having trouble coming to terms with our feelings of excitement...why?

Because with a team loaded with talent, much of it young talent, a new coaching staff with a much different approach, we feel something most of us haven't felt for a decade.

We enter a season expecting to be good, with a solid chance of winning it all.

Those of us who grew up in the 60's and 70's had this expectation every year. The embarrassment of the 80's tempered this feeling, only to see that feeling return for the high point of our great history 92-96.

The last decade has left us cynical and un-trusting of having this feeling...it can't be true...it's just a tease, waiting to leave us crushed in January.

This leaves us overreacting to a meaningless loss in preseason.

This leaves us thinking the worst about any injury report.

This leaves us questioning the release of an old CB in serious decline.

This leaves us questioning the new coach before we play a real game.

Well I say, "Screw that!"

Trust that feeling again Cowboys fans. Embrace what belongs to us...Knowing that we are the Cowboys, we will be good and championships are in our future.

I'm not cynical because of any of those reasons, there's only one person who makes me cynical about the Cowboys chances..................well you probably know who!;)

To be honest with you, BZ, the feeling I have isn't a good one. And I'm trying my best NOT to trust it.

Thank you, Blind. I too feel the same way, you big lug.

In Bob Facenda voce:

Now, in the ever lengthening of shadows across the withering wisps of the last whispers of summer, we stand in awe of the autumnal figures that emerge from the temples of Sundian Warriors that are NFL athletes

Aaannd in the first stirrings of Sunday's seasonal satient that is NFL football, we turn inward to assess our chances, their chances in the coming cauldron of carbonous and combustuous clashes in the days ahead.

The bandages come off ever so slowly as NFL athletes begin their annual and autumnal addressing of attitude and avarice that may lurk in the belly of the beasts of Sunday strategizing

Are we good enough? Are we resistent enough? Fit enough to slog through 16 games before the playoffs even appear on the horizon?

Soooo, in the first gleamings of the Sunday of the rite of autumn we call, football, shadows loom large as your heroes go forth. Into the valley of menace even more than Akron, Ohio.

Wither our heroes? WE ARE MARSHALL! WE ARE COWBOYS!
AMEN.

(No, I'm Ok, it's just the mace she used on me.)

It's all about heart and determination for this team. If this team really wants the trophy they have the talent to get it, but if our players, especially the talented ones don't start living up to expecations and faltering down the stretch it will just be another dissappointing season once again.
