With all the hoopla over Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields I think it's getting lost just how good this kid has been this year. I mean I know we generally poo poo college numbers because of competition. A lot of them are run up on teams that don't belong on the field with you. One thing the Covid year has done is it has removed about three such games from everybody's schedule. So now as I watch Trask do what he is doing I adjust my thinking. This dude is averaging over 4 TDs a game against 100% SEC competition. And he's doing it on a team that has next to nothing in the run game.

But none of that really catches my eye.. What really makes me sit up and take notice with Trask is the simple WR screen. I have been blown away at how quickly the ball gets on the receiver when he throws it. Most times the defense has no time to react. You usually don't see that with that play. Even in the NFL when teams throw that play the ball takes a long enough time to get there that the DBs have time to at least get up there and force the issue. Trask slings that thing over there with light speed. I do think the lack of a running attack will prove Florida's undoing against Alabama but as I watch Trask this year I am starting to think he's going to be a better pro than either of the guys getting more hype. He doesn't rely on athleticism to the extent Fields does ( cause he aint got it) and he has a higher completion percentage with a much higher TD/INT ration than Lawrence against what I would consider to be better competition. He also doesn't have a running game that can deliver 200 yards of support at the drop of a hat like Jones has at Bama. And he was without Kyle Pitts ( your next top 10 pick tight end ) for a couple of games and didn't skip a beat.

If the Cowboys do decide not to re-sign Dak.. they could do a lot worse than this kid.. He's a lot like Dak in that he's had to sit and wait his turn his whole life.. Wasn't even a starter in high school (but still got a scholarship to Florida so he wasn't completely under the radar) and only became the starter at Florida when Franks got hurt.. And once he took over it became painfully obvious he should have been the starter all along.. Sound familiar?

I like the player. I think the mac jones has talent as well. I'm pretty sure the boys will hang on to dak but if they are in the market for a QB the top 2 are going to be gone so these 2 will be in play.

Great size at 6' 5" 240 pounds but he will turn 23 this coming March so a little older of a rookie QB than you would like to see. That said, his career stats:

481 of 698 68.9% Comp % 6,346 Yards 9.1 YPA 64 TD's 10 INT's 107 Rushes 82 Yards 0.8 YPA 5 TD's

That said, if Dallas ends up with the #4 pick in the draft and decides not to re-sign Dak, and with Lawrence and Fields likely gone, if possible they could trade down a few spots and get some more draft picks while ultimately selecting:

Trey Lance North Dakota State

6' 4" 226 pounds 21 Years old in May 2021

Career Stats: 208 of 318 65.4% Comp % 2,947 Yards 9.3 YPA 30 TD's 1 INT 192 Rushes 1,325 Yards 6.9 YPA 18 TD's

While he is not playing against the competition level as Trask, he is a much more mobile QB option and has been heralded for his accuracy and poise.

He is not even on the same planet as Trevor Lawrence in anyway bro let's not get too crazy with this lol

Why not think about him even if they do retain Dak? Get some depth and development at the position. Start thinking long-term and let him sit behind and learn from Dak

Yeah I like Jones too but he, like Fields and Lawrence play for teams that have been 12-13 win teams with or without them for the last 6-7 years. Trask elevated a team that was more like 8-9 wins a season before he took over to that 11-13 win stratosphere. That intrigues me. I remember thinking that if he had a few more starts under his belt when they played LSU last year they might have even won that one. The pick he threw into the end zone really turned the game. It was 35-28 at that point and Florida should have punched it in to tie things up on that drive. I think his inexperience bit him there. And I think it got him again against Georgia in their next game. He's clearly a different cat this year.. And now that Florida's defense has (seemingly) figured things out after getting off to a terrible start this season, Florida is legit. Gonna be a slugfest against Bama.

I think you need to watch a little more closely. Trask is straight ballin on a level that Lawrence never has. He's got 38 TDs and 3 INTs. 13-1 TD to INT ratio is .. well not bad.. Lawrence has never done that.. and again that's while playing with a two time national championship roster. Lawrence is a great college QB.. but I think folks are sleeping on Trask if they think he doesn't belong on that conversation as the best QB in the country this year.

Trask is good...on the right team, he could be great in the NFL. The lack of mobility doesn't worry me too much. While it's good to have a QB who can scramble in today's league, right now Brady, Brees, Rivers, and Big Ben are quarterbacking playoff teams and they are not exactly the most mobile QBs.

Yeah I have never been a believer in the whole "either/or" thing when it comes to QB play or in how to win games in general. Do what you do better than the other team does what they do and you have a good chance to win. That's my philosophy. Yes given my druthers I would like to have a QB who can extend plays and maybe pick up a first down or two when called upon. But if he gets the job done without ever leaving the pocket what do I care?

I have not seen enough of Lance to comment .. but I do know that NDSU isn't going up against a lot of NFL talent like the other guys are. Doesn't mean he can't play at the next level but it does indicate that his adjustment will be steeper than those other guys. Why has he only played one game this year? Injuries or did his school or conference shut it down over Covid? Just looking at his numbers in that one game it doesn't look like he exactly light it up as a passer. Passed for 149 and ran for 143. A true dual threat. I do think the QB age thing is of no consequence. Lots of redshirt seniors come into the league and do just fine. Dak was one, I think Burrow was as well. Doesn't seem to have hurt either of them .. no pun intended. If they played a more athleticism position I might weigh it, but QB stops being about athleticism in about year 4 or 5 and shifts to being way more about what's between the ears and a guy's general mental make up. Every QB has ever had any success in the NFL has had to learn to win from the pocket .. If they don't make that leap from take off at the first sign of trouble because he can guy to hold on the ball, maybe move around to extend the play but make throwing the ball your priority they usually have a pretty short run in the league. Being the best athlete only gets you so far..

You lost me with the comment balling on a level Trevor Lawrence never has.....bro how many rings has Trask ever won? How many times has Trask faced an absolutely loaded Alabama team and shredded them ? TL done it as a freshman and has played every bit the competition Trask has this one year. This kid has lost 2 games in his entire career one of which to a all decade team in LSU bro I think your SEC bias is clearly showing here.

Hes on my Radar reminds me little like Flacco in his prime..can move but traditional pro offense type QB.

where do you think hes taken hard to tell but if he drops to mid to late first you go up from 2 nd get him lie GB did with Love? what would it cost..if hes goes around 10 not sure we can afford to pass up defense..unless we get 5 trade down get Trask and a defender in the first..

23 year old rookie. Basically is an aarp member. lol

QB is spot that can give you 10-12 years of great play with one player. 23 years old doesn't mean much to me. This isn't Weeden, a 28 year old rookie.

He is my guy I have been wishing for us to get him which we might be able to do so if JJ and his son are smart enough
His accuracy is uncanny and he does not fold under pressure with a great command of the huddle.

Kyle Trask = Kerry Collins

Looks more like Big Ben to me.

He's got a big arm with a lot of velocity.

Can make tough throws.

He's not completely immobile either. He can move about as well as Big Ben could.

Trask is a solid gamble.

I like that he is a walk on and had to fight to get where he is.

I think that Kyle Trask is the smartest and most accurate quarterback that Florida has ever had. And he did that in 1 offseason as starter since middle school.

I want Book out of ND in round 2

thaf kid is a gamer

I don’t understand why he’s not involved in the Heisman talk TBH

No thanks on Trask - you need an above-avg gun in this league and he simply doesn’t have it. Think blond Tim Tebow.
