****** SORRY.....meant if the GIANTS win, in the thread title******

....we will have the luxury of knowing exactly what is at stake on Saturday by kickoff thanks to the NY-NY matchup kicking off at Noon.

Obviously if the Jets win, we're playing to clinch. BUT..... if the Giants win that game, the Cowboys-Eagles game immediately becomes 100% irrelevant to both teams as far as playoff positioning. If the Giants win......should we just rest all our starters for the NYG game? I think there's a real case to be made to do so.
I'm serious.

If Detroit or Atlanta lose out we could still get the wild card, Detroit plays at the same time against SD and Atlanta plays NO on monday night.

So to answer your question, no.

ahhhhh, fair point. Didn't even realize a WC was still possible. If we end up tied, how in the world can we get a WC spot over detroit though? They beat us.

It would have to be in a three way tie, head to head tiebreakers don't apply in that case.

oh, right right right. I see the scenario you are painting. I think this is highly unlikely however, seeing as Atlanta hosts TB in week 17. Even if they lose this week, no way they lose that game with a playoff spot on the line. But if it's possible, I guess you can't take the chance.

Dallas is going to beat the Eagles regardless of what the Giants do.

Although, as I've already said in another thread, I believe the Jets are going to beat the Giants.

Right now it is more likely that we win the division. Det could lose both game and be 9-7 and Alt is 9-5 right now with a tough game vs NO but the close at home vs Tampa.

Bottom line Cowboys can't rely on this to happen. As for Philly I think Dallas has to play to win no matter what NY does in the early game. Cowboys need to start putting things together and they need to build the confidence in themselves and in what they are doing.

Wouldn't we need both of them to lose out? I don't see Atlanta losing to TB in the finale. I expect they'll give NO all they can handle next week.

Can you imagine going into that game losing 3 of 4 with the only W over TB?

Not something I would want but remember NY is in the same boat. If the final weekend pits these 2 teams winner take all I expect one heck of a fight much like the 1st meeting.

Seattle or Arizona could still get to 9-7 so if either Atlanta or Detroit lose out there could be a 3 way tie there. As a matter of fact they play each other on week 17 so if they both win next week, tough games against SF and Cinci, either Seattle or Arizona would be 9-7 for sure.

Point being, you never know, you can't rest starters this week.

I think NYJ/NYG is a toss-up. On the other hand, I think Dallas will have to play one of its best games of the year to beat Philly. They've played very well the last 2 weeks, and crushed 2 pretty good teams.

My initial thought is we are outmatched against Philly. Let's be honest here, we have NO defense, so Philly will be able to score on us at will. On the flip side, Philly has a decent defense and strong CB'S. We will just have to outsmart them. Get the running game going, work some screen passes in, run some no huddle offense (Haven't done that all year) to slow down their pass rush and run out clock. Long safe sustaining drives. Safe/quick throws from Romo. We will need to also get a lead early and force the Eagles into mistakes.

With the division on the line, I see us playing tough. It's a 50/50 game.

This is absolutely the key. The last game was over before it started. We got so far behind so fast, the offense had no chance. Their D is at their best when they can attack and dictate play. The only way to offset that is to stay in the game. Rob Ryan better draw up something better than his last game plan. And let's hope he doesn't call up his brother for advice.
