It was a tale of two halves. Dallas had the edge in the first half and in the second half Minnesota's pass rush created havoc. Once again turnovers, penalties, and missed assignments sunk the ship.

Once again Dallas controlled the clock, racked up yardage, and played well enough to win, but lost. Once again it is because Dallas shot themselves in the foot.

I actually couldn't believe it when yet another Romo pass was tipped into an interception. I've never seen a guy so snake bit. I actually feel bad for Tony Romo. He's going to be made a goat and he doesn't deserve it.

Minnesota got 10 points off of turnovers and 7 on a kick return that changed the color of my eyes from green from genes, to green with envy. I have been saying for 2 seasons that I want someone to catch the kickoff, hit the accelerator and pay no attention to the scenery flying by. Last week I even mentioned letting Teddy Williams get a call up to try it. Percy Harvin's TD was a nightmare that is my dream. We continue to jog to the 20 yard line and hope to make it to the 25. I thought we'd get past that habit with AOA. So far, not so much.

There are three penalties that really stick in my craw right now. The first was the celebration penalty on Miles Austin. I did get to see my last week's snafu idea on kicking out of bounds happen and be costly. Lesson learned. I would like it if our guys quit celebrating altogether. Just take care of business.

The second was the penalty on Austin's TD that took 7 points off the board. Nothing wrong with the call, I just think it is indicative of how penalties are killing us. The last was the penalty on Dez's Punt Return. Same reason as above, it killed potential momentum.

Others were ill timed too, but those 3 made me cringe.

I knew that sooner or later Doug Free would have a poor game and draw some fan ire, but I did not expect him to imitate Cory Procter on a play ever.

I am glad that Roy Williams is completely out of the doghouse. Well, except for the price paid to acquire him and his salary. His last catch saved Tony Romo from a 3rd INT. I've been saying this is his last year in Dallas. Maybe not if he keeps it up.

Well, you finally got a run focused game plan. I wish the results had been a little better. Minnesota played very good in the 2nd half in particular. I have always liked Winfield. I think he is the type of CB who can win you games because he plays so tough.

I thought our run defense was really good against the best RB in the NFL. In the first half we dropped Favre like a bad habit. He may be old and a drama queen, but that old geezer is a player. I enjoy watching him play, but hate it that he has figured out how to beat us since he joined Brad Childress. It was more fun to watch him when he couldn't beat us.

Moss on the other hand can't lose against us. 8-0. I'll be glad when he retires. He is the curse of 1998 and we're still paying for it.

I know this will piss a lot of people off, but I still don't think the Cowboys are a bad team. They may never climb out of this hole though. They have to go on a long winning streak and begin to believe in themselves or it is over. I would prefer the players stop talking to the media. It isn't a big thing, but spending minutes of their day thinking about what is wrong are wasted time. They need to hit the trenches until they are out of the ditch.

This week will be a plethora of fire every coach on the team threads and everyone will get benched. Those things will never happen but frustration is going to reign supreme around here. It is to be expected.

No two ways around it. It is a tale of two halves. The first half of the season is a colossal mess. If the Cowboys want to end on any kind of high note, the second half of this season is going to need to be one hell of a high note. 1-4 is a sour song and a bitter pill. So forgive your fellow fans when they are pissed. It's the only emotion that makes sense to some folks in times like this.

What has happened to Buehler's leg on kickoffs? He consistently BOOMED them 4..5...6 yards into the end zone last year. Just because he is working more on FGs now doesn't mean he has lost his leg. Whats his deal? Last year, Buehler was hiding our STs inability to cover.

It's a bad sign for me when the losses aren't hurting as much as they did before. I really really need them to hurt again..

yup...think he has a tired leg doing both now.

Try bewilderment for me. I didn't see this coming at all. This team will play better( heck I think they be NY next week) but like you said it may be too much to climb out of.

I'm an optimist, but 8-8 looks likely right now.

Still hoping for an 8-3 or better finish.

I'd like to thank you for sparing us the "Cowboys are a good team like the Saints" nonsense this time around.

Though, your the "Cowboys are not a bad team" wasn't much better....you've just gotten used to losing.

Nice post Hos. I give you credit for being able to keep things in perspective when I know you are as frustrated as the rest of us.

To me, the biggest issue that is killing this team is the penalties and the poor play of the special teams.

The Cowboys have been in every game this year. Makes it really hard to swallow a 1-4 record that could easily be 4-1.

No, we're not a bad team. However, we're playing badly at key moments in games. Well, we certainly have talented players, but maybe we are a bad TEAM. It's no secret to anyone that follows the NFL, much less the Cowboys, that this team is a boat without a rudder. That in a nutshell is the problem. We are also a very unlucky team, but bad luck normally follows poor preparation and execution. It's hit us in spades.

The botton line is we've played just well enough to win every game we've played so far this year, and just bad enough to lose them all. Mistakes are doing us in, but then again, it's been that way ever since Wade appeared on the scene. How do people not see this?

Save your diagnosis. I haven't. I'm just consistent because I say the exact same thing about Green Bay, Minnesota, and San Diego. They are good teams who dug holes and have to dig out and have the talent to do it. Just like us, breaks have to go their way or it won't happen.

I've been saying this is his last year in Dallas. Maybe not if he keeps it up.

Sorry HOS

I get rid of RW's

2 WEEKS in a row I watched Roy Williams smiling, with this cocky selfish smile on his face, after making a very good catch, WHILE LOSING, and the game about ready to end.

ROY ONLY CARES ABOUT HIMSELF!!!

I agree with you.

That might not be evident by the increasingly negative tone I take with this team, but for the most part, my criticisms have mostly been directed at this team's mistakes, lack of focus, and questionable intelligence...not so much at its talent.

These guys COULD beat anyone based on talent alone, but unfortunately, you often need more than just talent to win in the NFL.

good teams win...bad teams don't...period. That's the way it has always been and the way it will always be. Oh..and good teams make their own breaks, too, they don't wait around for breaks to come their way or go their way.

I've wanted to say this to you for weeks. Butkus. He was one of the all time greats and doesn't deserve to have his name butchered.

All true. We have an accumulation of talented players at many positions, but we are not a "good team". Not right now anyway. We have good stats in some areas, but in the end, only one stat really matters and we're losing that stat badly.

With every loss, it seemed like victory was within grasp only to be taken away by a flag or some crazy turnover. Then, when the game is over, I keep thinking it was just a crazy turn of events and we'll get them the next game. Disappointed and sad again.

11 games left. How many can the Cowboys win?

Skins have 3 losses. Giants & Eagles 2 each. We have 4. Who would have thought? Are we cursed this year?

I see people on Twitter or FB putting all the blame on Wade. They want him fired immediately. That's not going to happen in the middle of the season? We have to keep grinding with what we've got. My concern is that these 4 losses will hurt the team mentally. Can they rise above it? I've heard many former players say that it is a mental game.

The fact that it even has to be said at a Cowboys website shows just how far we as a franchise and fan-base have fallen.

I'm not innocent either...I started drinking koolaid again after winning a playoff game last year.

I disagree that the 1st Int wasn't Romo's fault.

I understand that Free completely whiffed and put Romo under pressure. Romo should have taken a sack or throw the ball away. Instead he threw it to his BFF who WAS tripled covered in the middle of the field. Even if he caught the ball he maybe gets 4 yds but into TRIPLE coverage.

That's was a BAD decision.

The 2nd INT I actually didn't fault Romo much. I thought EJ made an outstanding play of disguising a blitz and dropped right into the lane for the INT. Great play!

Trust me, I am absolutely no fan of Wade. I think the person who desperately needs to open his eyes is Jerry Jones. If Dallas continues to free fall, I think Jones may be tempted to hand things over to Garrett.

I know most on this board have written this season off, and that is ok. As for me, the next 4 games will tell me if this edition of the Dallas Cowboys has any heart left. :star:

your right HOS but don't you think

Butkus would have taken care of the problem by himself

I think it was the bye week that it was reported that he had a minor leg injury. Looks like he still might.
