At the risk of condescension, I detest browsing the forums the day after a loss because the know-nothings crawl out from under their rocks and lather the board with nonsensical gibberish. .

So let's talk about what REALLY happened yesterday, not the sophomoric drivel of the misguided. .

Dude, nicely written post and some great points. But why the personal insults? I have read negative comments from many people on here and I dont consider these people to be "know-nothings". Nor are their posts sophmoric drivel. I am suprised this board allows this type of talk.

So what do you suggest us Cowboy fans do, oh great wise fortune teller. Should we just stop cheering, stop watching them, or even stop supporting them? Is their season already over with 12 games left to play? You know what happens next, right? Oh wise one, please fill me in, I seek all the answers that you hold.

I am going to tell you what I am going to do as a fan of this team. I will continue to stand by my Cowboys, continue to support them, even if they loose the rest of the games. I will continue to be a fan regardless of play and outcome. I will continue to fly my Cowboys flag in the heart of Deadskin country, and wear my Cowboys gear. I will continue to respect other's point of views, especially erod's postings.

What you do and believe as a fan of this team, if completely up to you.

How many times are threads like these going to be made? Seems I've seen of these for the last 4 years or so. This is the same song and dance. And the ending is never good. This defense is not that great and the offense is inconsistent as always. We will be 2-3 after next week.

This defense let the Chargers stay on the field pretty much the entire 3rd qtr. It wa game over when they gave up a FG before half because someone was uncovered 30yds down field and then to open the 2nd half, they methodically march down the field and score a TD on a 7 or 8min drive. Just pathetic.

Nice post, well-written, love your contributions to the board. But the most important stuff can be reduced to a single sentence:

The Cowboys struggle defending the pass and scoring on offense.

That's the kernel narrative. It's the story so far this year. It was the story last year. It was the story the year before that. When that story changes, so will the .500 narrative.

How is it that with the weapons Dallas has, they can't win, but with what most would call lesser talent, Brady can be 4-0?

.

Bingo! Tom Brady went on the road and played a team last night that most still believe is a playoff team.
He had journeymen RBs, no passing catching TEs, and then Edelman and rookie free agents as WRs.
Yet...they win. It isnt all about talent. Belichik and Brady plus a bunch of nobodies are better than all things Cowboys.

That's all good and dandy.

(Not directed at you) Too many fans here have seem to quit on this team already, and it's honestly quite sad. We very easily could be 3-1, or even 4-0. Our 2 loses have come from a playoff caliber team in one of the toughest stadiums to play in, and the other came against a QB who is playing better then anyone not named Peyton Manning. The amount of pessimism around here really does get old, not everyone here likes to be miserable and have a negative outlook on every single thing.

I think you have to give credit to the Chargers offense.

3rd QTR, Dallas had just ONE possession. SD had 2 drives in the 3rd covering 5:28 (TD) and 6:23 (FG). One way to beat a team is to keep their offense off the field.

Defense not being able to get a stop at the end of the 1st half, giving up a FG, a missed FG in the 2nd QTR, TWill's fight for yards/fumble (rookie mistake. Even Moose admitted he did the same thing once and cost Dallas a game, so...).

Yet again, a winnable game that was lost because Dallas did a good job of beating themselves.

Maybe Dallas doesn't have "weapons" but just has guys in uniform and maybe Brady doesn't have "lesser talent" but has coachable talent.

Way better coaches/coaching and Tom Brady.

So let's talk about what REALLY happened yesterday, not the sophomoric drivel of the misguided. Yes, I had the Cowboys winning yesterday, comfortably in fact, but there's a reason they play these games, and yesterday showed exactly why. I was wrong about the Chargers, as were many

...........

This was not a catastrophe. It was a tough loss, and with Denver looming on the horizon, it certainly dampens the optimism of a week ago. My 11-5 prediction is admittedly more comfortable in the 10-6 or 9-7 range now.

But this team is still in first place, and will be next week no matter what happens. And it be just like this team, and this league for that matter, for the Cowboys to jump up and surprise us against the Broncos. Romo is undefeated against Peyton Manning, for the record. It'll be a white-knuckler come Sunday at the Death Star.

Let's just tip our caps to San Diego, put our big-boy pants on, and march on. A very long way to go, and time to right the ship, especially in this division.
Yet another poster homers out, while condescending to the truth. Even quotes himself on how over-optimistic he was, then continues to optimistically spin things to the positive. Nothing positive happened yesterday for the Cowboys. Nothing truly positive has happened for years.

Sophomoric drivel is thinking the Cowboys are anything other than what they have been for several years, mediocre. Sophomoric drivel is thinking that 9-7 can - in any way, shape or form - be considered progress. Sophomoric is looking at every little perceived weakness Dallas has, while ignoring the giant elephant in the middle of the room. Anyone wants to hear some real sophomoric drivel just needs to tune in to Jerry Jones next interview, where he'll say something to the effect that the problems are correctable. Or compares Romo to Manning. Or talks about holding himself accountable. etc etc etc

I'm referring predominantly to the junk that gets posted during and right after the game

Today, almost all of those folks disappear and legit discussions resume.

If you were familiar with me, you'd have a tough time finding a more critical fan of this team. I utterly detest Jerry and what I've seen for so long.

I do believe the thing is turning a positive direction as Garrett rebuilds the roster and culture.

Featured? Really? Seems pretty silly to me. So to sum up the ridiculous OP, if the Cowboys can start run blocking and pass blocking, teach the WR's to catch, figure out how to pass rush, replace the secondary, and get better coaches and a GM, we might be better. Fantastic news.

Did you even read it?

Don't drop easy passes for first downs that are right on target, and you keep the ball and Rivers off the field. That was the key failing yesterday.

The run/pass blocking was good, Romo was good, the defense was pretty good for a half, but it wore thin as the offense committed inexcusable drops/penalties at bad times.

That, and Rivers was just really good. Still, it was about to be 30-28 with three minutes to go until a receiver may another boneheaded play.

I know. I am just pissed. Ignore my rant. Maybe JJ will go have a talk with the WR's because the coaches sure as hell are not getting through to them.

LOL, totally excused. I was ranting right with you yesterday. Hope the neighbors put on ear muffs.

If somehow this team beats Denver, we'll have to yank everybody off the parade wagons.

Just be glad we're not in New York, Pittsburgh, or Philly right now.

We had a chance to take a very early dominating lead in what is a terrible division, and once again we blew it. We sucked on both sides of the ball and we got out coached BADLY in the second half. This team is what it has been the last few years. A .500 team. Fortunately, every other team in the East sucks a little more than we do.

why should anyone ever be surprised when Garrett is outcoached?

I didn't see Garrett get outcoached. Is he supposed to catch the ball for Dez, Witten, Harris, and Williams? Was he supposed to ask Ware to bother to show up? Was he supposed to cover Gates for Carter and Lee?

who is the loser who went for 56 yard FG and basically gave the Chargers three points as a result?

He is supposed to get the team ready but again, on the road they weren't. If that isn't on the coach, who is it on? Other coaches have come out and said that they didn't have the team ready and that is on them, Garrett never does.
