No, I'm not one to hope for a tank out of the gate. I lose sleep over tough losses, cried at a certain age after Emmitt fumbled on the way to the endzone against the Oilers way back when, am constantly worried we won't win another Super Bowl before I die, and I just signed up for an expensive streaming service just so I could watch my team after cutting cable last year.
So no, losing doesn't feel good. Knowing the season is over after week one is not fun. But a true fate awaits us...it gets worse. And it won't get better until 2025 at the earliest, and even then it will have to be by accident, because Daddy isn't doing anything he doesn't have to, and the Son is even worse. The only thing that will spur changes for the better, imo, is a season so bad that fans show up in paper bags. And I mean an epic failure, not some middling season where Rush pulls out one win and gets Jerry puffing out his chest. We have to lose, and lose hard. Even then it might not matter with Honest Offer Stevie waiting in the wings, but the one thing Jerry doesn't want to play with is perception. Now it took three years of despair for him to try something new with Parcells, so we need to do worse than middle-of-the-pack. Much, much worse. And that hurts to say, but it's the only way we aren't in this same position in 2023...and 24.
