From the rarified environs of Cowboy truth and trivia, Air Cowboys America, the 50,000-watt black hole of truth, justice and the Armenian Way. In Farmers Branch-Little Carrollton, where our tax dollars go to pay big salaries!
Next up, Arnie's small-engine corner and then highlights of the MidCities Trailer Hitch Jamboree.

Mens, I was reading something the other day, with the help of them big print, that one of the Dallas Cowboys GREATEST receivers in its history was paid a $150 bonus to sign.

This man was a free agent. Walked on. Worked out in the morning. Loaded cargo by day. In the afternoon he practiced and then some. He was a quaterback in collige and then he made himself into a WR in hopes of NFLism.

How things have changed.

A $150 bonus.

Now, I wonder how many NFL players go through that amount in one dinner.
Or for one carwash with tip.

Anyway, before I get too misty-eyed and indignated about this insult of a bonus, I am thinking about THIS PLAYER'S rightful place in The Ring.
I am thinking about how little we give and how much some give back.

Think about it, $150. Even we short-sleeve wearin, lunchbag varmint cubicle rats would scoff at such a bonus.

Well, ah figure it is summer vacation for many of you mens, so if you have the time, research it and tell me, your friend, WHO WAS THIS FUTURE DALLAS GREAT?
A great in the pantheon of Dallas Cowboyism.

QUIEN ES ESTE VAQUERO LUMINOSO?
Who be that Cowboy luminary???????
Answer kindly, please.

Easy, one of my favorites of all time, Drew Pearson. I actually had a conversation about this with him when I was a kid.

Also, you are right... I've spent more than $150.00 on a single steak (not including the sides).

dARN IT!!!

FOILED AGAIN!!!

You are too keen there. Good answer!!!!

Drew Pearson deserves his place in the ring, right?
Forget old marketing animosities, Jerra. Allow this son of Dallas, sprinting across midfield and . . . catching the ball in midair before being crunched from the side by an angy linebacker.

Drew should also go half way.

Make up and let us all enjoy the lore of Drew Pearson.
Mr. Down the middle, Mr. Tough-as-Nails WR.

He certainly does. I am quite angry at Jerry over not adding anyone to the ROH this year. Frankly it is insulting to me as a 39 year fan of this team.

Maybe Jerra was holding out for Kavika Pittman to be in The Ring instead.

It was a good question though, and nice trip down memory lane!

And yes, Pearson certainly deserves the spot--he's a legend.

Drew Pearson is just one guy. I am mad that no one is being inducted. Other guys are worthy. Off the top of my head 5 other guys who should be considered.

Harvey Martin
Ed Jones
Bill Bates
Darren Woodson
Larry Allen

Good list. Honestly, I'd like to see Bill Bates go in first--he was the heart and soul of the team for so long. One of the all around nicest and genuine Cowboys I've ever met too.

Jethro Pugh
Cliff Harris
Charlie Watters
Larry Cole
Bob Brueing
Eugene Lockhart
Everson Walls
Danny White
Billy Joe Dupree
Nate Newton
Daryl Johnston
Jay Novacek
Jim Jeffcoat
Charles Haley

All deserve a consideration as well.

It baffles my mind that Harvey Martin and Drew Pearson aren't in the Ring. Martin's numbers are astonishing, and it's always seemed a crime he's not in the Hall of Fame, much less the Ring. What I hate is that it becomes easier for younger generations to forget about some of these legends of the past when their names aren't hung high above.

Post of the day. That is exactly why this pisses me off and why Jerry is in my doghouse right now. He has never appreciated the past History he inherited near enough. It's no wonder the damned Hall of Fame has bias against our past heroes. The stupid owner had the same bias.

Bill Bates.

:laugh2:

Good one, Hos.
I know that deep in that benevolent and Cowboys-loving psyche you are putting us all on.

Bill Bates was like Roy Williams, only slower.
Yes, he could hit. But so can a lot of NFL players, only they had speed and quickness.
In my mind, Bill Bates is best remembered for his ironic T-shirts he pedaled after he was injured all year during the Cowboys 92-93 run. "Kick Butt" the shirts said. LOL

OK, Bill Bates was funny.

I love all the other ideas for the ROH.
Bill Bates just makes me laugh.
But I appreciate your humor or your affinity for this slow, overrated player.
:)
