First, let's get past the sophomoric nonsense. I couldn't get past the name of the Oakland quarterback because in college, eons ago, we used to introduce ourselves as "McGroin...Pat McGroin." Perhaps some of you were as childishly stupid as me. Anyway....
All in all, 7-5 and tied for the division lead is an OK place to be. I was counting on Arizona yesterday (dang it), and I'll be looking for something from Detroit next week, too. It'd be nice to be a game up headed into that last game and no hope for the Eagles to take the division here in the finale.
Turkey Day was an expected win, but when Pat, I mean, the McGLOIN kid, started carving up our defense, I was more than a little concerned. Romo and the offense looked fat and happy over the Giants game, and I wasn't aware that Romo was dealing with the monkey squirts. A diaper, duct tape, perhaps a cork....not sure how he managed.
Good on Romo, yet again, to grab this game by the gobbler (sorry) and protect our holiday with the proper outcome. Certainly deserved an extra piece of apple pie, which I rightly scoured.
That second half was encouragingly dominant, with the demonstrated balance on offense and the awakening of the defense en route to a 24-0 run. All cylinders firing, even after the bruises and scrapes of New York were still fresh, and the postgame buzz of that hugely important game still hanging in the air.
That's 5-2 in the last seven games, by the way. That's a nice little roll to carry into December.
The ugly and obvious negative was seeing Dunbar, who FINALLY showed up as advertised, writhing in pain after that awkward hit to his knee. Dr. Jerry made it worse when he basically called it nothing injury after the game, 1-2 weeks, obviously based on his extensive knowledge of drilling holes in the ground. Such a clown.
Missing Dunbar is going to hurt because that dude is a different animal than anything else on this offense. He compliments Murray well, and would have given Romo more time with that on film now. I guess that means more Randle or Tanner, unless they just put the extra on Romo. Not the same.
And the health of the defense looks to be coming around again, albeit with Claiborne back on the schnide. Lee will be a welcome addition in Chicago, which is a winnable but tough game looming. Hopefully, these few extra days will come in handy as we prepare for Jay Ratliff and the Bearseses.
Time for Rod Marinelli to go postal on his former employer. The Bears are beatable. As certaintly are the Commanders and Packers, with or without Aaron Rodgers. Winning three out of these last four is quite doable, and yes, that would mean 10-6 and a playoff berth so long as the Eagles don't reel off four straight.
Most importantly, Romo is playing well, and the offensive line is, too. That is the biggest difference between now, and 12 months ago.
