A year later Byron Jones' leap still looks 'superhuman'

INDIANAPOLIS -- As you walk through the Indiana Convention Center on your way to Lucas Oil Stadium there is a picture up of Byron Jones in mid flight.

It’s of his world-record 12-foot, 3-inch broad jump at last year’s scouting combine.

It’s still staggering to see 12 months later.

“It looks superhuman, that’s for sure. It’s interesting to watch a guy who performs like that,” Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said.

Very pretty. I'm sure Ramsey will perform superhuman feats just as pretty.

Meanwhile other corners chosen in later rounds are going to pro bowls and generating more turnovers.

Roy Williams didn't make the Pro Bowl, back when, until his second season and being taught on the field by Woodson.

Roy should have made pro bowl his first season IMO. And the difference is that Roy's superhuman feats occurred ON THE FIELD instead of in t-shirt and shorts.

Just my .02 cents.

The jump was not the most impressive thing Jones did last year IMO.

Playing in multiple roles for the Cowboys when needed was more impressive.

The one play where it looked like his knee came out of place on the sidelines and he popped it back in and jumped right back u p was more impressive...at least to me.

A well coordinated player isn't a useless addition to a roster. He played well in his first season, and fits well in the role of over-the-top safety.

Don't put a player down because he has talent...that really isn't a smart snapshot.

Workout means focused...and that is a positive all day long.

Older players who didn't work hard when they started, get a crash course in just that when they reach mid career.

I wouldn't count out Byron yet, he had a solid rookie season.

Are people really down on the way Jones performed last season? Really? He was asked to do a lot, especially for a rookie, and he played well all season. Interceptions are great, and I agree our defense needs to generate more turnovers, but I'll take a good cover DB that can shut down receivers, over a risk taker that gives up more big plays than he makes. I'll take that guy all day long.

He's a Cowboy. So you have to whine, make up strawmen to knock down and revise his season to make him look like a bad pick. Get with the program.

He was on the wrong side of at least 3 backbreaking plays last year. He had his moments, but not many that I can think of off the top of my head. The one people tend to come back to is "He held Gronk in check", all I remember from that game is him giving up a 20+ pass on a 3rd and long that jumpstarted the Patriots offense.

I simply wasn't all that impressed with him. Not asking for him to be cut, but I have my doubts about him.

Sure you know how to study film and project defenses and areas of expectations for others responding?

Surprised not one person mentioned that that's not Byron Jones in that picture.

Shows fans on this board are either very oblivious or just begin to comment on threads without reading the OP
