Aaron can use the Covid Opt out

I don’t think we will though, because he wants to play this year. If he opts out, he saves some money, but otherwise it’s not different to GB where he sits out all year and they trade him next offseason. Maybe if he sits out TC or the first couple games he can get them to move him before the trade deadline.

Financially this makes a lot of sense, but I don’t believe Aaron is trying to get out of GB because of money.

Opt out deadline has passed. Anyone hear of any players opting out?

Speaking of Rodgers, what does anyone here think he's going to do? Just not play this season? Not likely or he would have used the opt out. So who will he be playing for?

I guess we will find out soon as camp comes around. He will either stand by his comments and sit or buckle. Myself I have lost all respect for him.

If I were GB, I'd trade him to the Lions. Good luck, dude.

I think it would be better to get 2 or 3 1st rd picks than to have him sit out or create problems on the team. GB choose to take Love in the 1st rd of last years draft so they must have had a plan of one day replacing Rodgers just as they did Favre.

I agree completely. They'd have to be nuts to not do that just to spite Rodgers. But Detroit has multiple number ones ready to go.

They also have teams like Denver who seem willing to bid on Rodgers. That can only help drive the price up for GB

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...-packers-extension-offer-made-highest-paid-qb

Aaron Rodgers turned down a two-year extension offer from the Green Bay Packers this offseason, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal, sources said, would have tied the reigning MVP to the Packers for five more seasons and made him the highest-paid quarterback in football.

The report of this offer and the timing of its release is designed to direct public perception narrative. Aaron feels like the way they have conducted business in the background was disrespectful. We will all know how serious he has been once training camp begins.

The Packers would be idiots to attempt to force the situation at this point. His trade value would only go down if he sits. Like what Detroit did with both Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson. Just get what you can when it's apparent the player will just retire rather than play for the team. Cutting off your nose to spite your face never ends well for either party. If you are an executive for a team and allow your pride to get in the way of making the best business decision for the team, you should be fired.

Or he can throw several interceptions, fumble and make it obvious he is not going to give GB 100%.
Not in his competitive nature, I'm sure. If he plays, he'll ball out.
They drafted Love, then he went out and won MVP.

Aaron has been very transparent about his desire to be traded since the week before the NFL draft. The Packers are being stubborn and forcing his hand. Lord knows they botched the relationship moving up to draft Jordan Love when Rodgers was in dire need of help on offense.
Probably didn't help either when they opted to kick that chip-shot field goal with only 2 minutes left vs the Bucs vs using their MVP QB to win the game.
