Aaron Rodgers to Jets

The Packers agreed Monday to deal quarterback Aaron Rodgers and their 2023 first-round pick (No. 15) and a 2023 fifth-round pick (No. 170) to the Jets for New York's 2023 first-round pick (No. 13), a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42), a 2023 six
-round pick (No. 207) and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that becomes a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the plays this season, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Hmmm...seems like the Jets did pretty well.

Jets Get:
  • Rodgers
  • 1st rounder in 2023
  • 5th rounder in 2023
Packers Get:
  • 1st rounder in 2023
  • 2nd rounder in 2023
  • 6th rounder in 2023
  • Conditional 2nd rounder in 2024
You can pretty much scratch the 1st rounders as they're only 2 picks apart. Also scratch the 5/6th round swap.

Jets are going to pay two 2nd rounders for Roders.

I'm honestly scratching my head on this one. Is Rodgers saying, "Cool, it's the Jets; I'll have a great chance to win a Super Bowl there"? I'll be shocked if the Jets are anything other than mediocre with Rodgers.

I wouldn't be so sure. That 2008 Jets team sucked. I didn't expect Favre to do anything. He went there because he still wanted to play.

The Jets won 7 games last year without a legit QB. Where are their weaknesses? QB and offensive line. I'm sure they'll address the OL where they can, and in the draft. Breece Hall will be back. If they stay healthy, they have a contender right now.

Don't forget Rodgers's cap hit, it's at rookie contract level for 2023.

Hey, if they can prov themselves and have a great season, all the more power to them.

It really reminds me of the Rams in 1999. No one expected them to do anything. But only based on the prior year. This stuff happens more often than we think.

Consider that more than half of the Super Bowls played featured a team that didn't make the playoffs the prior season. That means someone in the SB sucked last year, half of the time.

If the Jets are mediocre with him, it will be because he has a mediocre season. They were 7-10 last year without a really good looking rookie RB and some of the worst QB play in the NFL.

I guess we'll find out. Hey, if the Jets can manage a competitive season, and even maybe a division win and playoffs, all the more power to them.

It's going to be the most exciting the AFC East has been since 1985.
