We should sign him and Andrews.

That'll really bring up morale in the locker room.
I can picture them communicating together in the lockeroom now. Sears writes down on a piece of paper "you crazy"!. Then Andrews writes down "no you crazy"!

As others have mentioned, he's really not even a football player anymore.

He's so out of shape...it's sad really. Good kid but this depression really hurt him.

To answer the OP's question, no I wouldn't bring him in. Just hope he can salvage his young life. It was really bad guys.

Sears appears to suffer from depression. If he can get that under control, he's a good player... but the Bucs clearly don't think he'll be able to continue.

He'll be even more depressed when the NFL money runs out.

In no way trying to be dismissive, but if I'm looking at two players with "issues" - that being Sears and Shawn Andrews - I'd choose Andrews. It seems that he has his condition more under control and when he did, he was a Pro Bowl caliber player.

That said, this might be a moot point as I think the team is looking for more of a guard/center type rather than strictly a guard. But then again, what do I know?

Sears is a non-issue, plain and simple. It would be a small miracle for him to excel at the game again.

As long as he's over his bout of depression, he'd be worth a look.

:laugh2: Some say it's a lifetime bout. Then again, some say millions of $ can make anyone happy. Sounds like Tampa doesn't think so.

I'd look at Tony Washington before both of these guys. Forget them all. Rather talk more about Faneca who everyone else says is not happening. I'll even over pay him rather than look at these guys because at least he'll play no matter what.

This guy was a rock LT and player at Tennessee.

I hope he is going to be alright. I didn't even know he was having problems.

I hope he ends up being o.k.

He was a solid rock on that offensive line, and he helped win some significant games. He played RT before he was moved to LT.

Let's see now. Psychological issues and even the Bucs want to part ties with him. Yea, let's go ahead and bring him in. IF we want to do the stupid thing.

Another guy who was horrible in pass protection...

People are so quick to elevate someone to worthwhile status. He's being released from a team whose starting offensive linemen even struggle in pass protection, and yeah we'll get their surplus who also struggles.

YES.... unless Bucs fans, or somebody in the know, says he can't play, bring him on.. He's the perfect guy we're looking for ( again, unless somebody in the know says he can't play )...

Question: Is he so out of it that even the most sophisticated off the field program in the league, which currently resides in Valley Ranch, wouldn't be able to help him ? Even attempting it would be a waste of time ?

Dam, he must be a manic depressive or something.

All I know is that he was a freaking stud at Tennessee. He must have gone downhill fast these last 3 years.

I hope he gets his life turned around.

Was it the concussion that did this, or was it an issue that was always there?

Unfortunately, yes. He has more to worry about than football right now.

Was it the concussion that did this, or was it an issue that was always there?

The concussion may have triggered what he is now going through, but I am not for certain. Something clicked...like a light switch.
